I put up a Beatles poster and my brain kept quoting Ringo in The Simpsons saying “I hung it on me wall!” (Sadly no butler did it for me and I did hit my finger)
Gummy bears holding hands are cute, but it will not save them from me.
Me face in à hôtel room — pre stuffing me gob with ice cream and sticky date pudding. I am not going to do one more run through of my keynote, it’s OK I’ve got this.
Say hello to my little impulse buy* — adding to my collection of tarot cards ** with this beautiful set featuring the art of Hieronymus Bosch 😍 * technically “buys” because I didn’t “need” the fabric (oh yes I did!) ** I should probably learn to read the cards (and shuffle correctly) 😅
I went to a new place to get my lashes done and made friends* with a fluffy boi. * he tried to hump my leg immediately after this, but respected my “no” so things got a bit awkward between us.
I don’t think my cat Pickles has gotten out of bed today. God how I envy her.
I bought myself a little sweet treat ( and like the light from a super nova, by the time this reaches you the treat will have ceased to exist)
Seen at my neighbourhood op-shop. The most surprising thing about this window display was that there was ANOTHER giant picture of a kangaroo.
There’s a pop up vintage market on Cuba Street and I bought round things: a paperweight, à vase and earrings that look like soap bubbles.
I got my nails done and went super girly with light pink glitter cats eye — and each nail has a magnetised heart!
Cat logic: instead of sleeping on the clear part of the work bench (or indeed her bean bag or arm chair that are in this room) Pickles chooses to sleep on two pairs of sewing scissors, packets of sewing machine needles and metal rulers. (Her tail looks weird because the vet shaved it)
Post first mammogram treat: a little coffee and a little gem of a novella “Fup” by Jim Dodge.
Ralph was scrapping with the next door neighbour’s cat on the lean to roof — and got a bit stuck: neither wanted to give ground to the other. I got a pretty shot while I coaxed him down (into a laundry basket I held over my head!)
Take the fictional characters quiz and post the first four you know: openpsychometrics.org/tests/charac...
When I was younger (so much younger than today) I fancied that I might become an international woman of mystery and drive an MG MGB in British racing green. I think it is best for humanity if I stay a pedestrian so my new manicure is as close as I should get to British racing green.
Birthday selfie. 48 — my age not the takes for this photo (that was WAY more 😂)
I’m doing an AMA on Reddit (r/bookclub Kurangaituku) on Tuesday 27 Jan 10am NZ time (26 Jan 9pm GMT, 4pm EST) So if you have some questions about Kurangaituku, or what my current favourite cheese is head on over there. Here’s me mugshot with the info.
Was tempted by the GIANT pain au chocolat at the supermarket again. Maybe next week for my birthday?
I got these 3D printed kuku from Tutu Toi (you can find them on insta) so when the weather gets better the Harakeke in my mara will get a haircut so I can learn/practice using them. You can get them for lefties too AND they are made from cornstarch not plastic so are biodegradable.
I was just hanging out some washing and a bee shat on me. That’s some sort of luck — good? Bad?
