I finally got it! A legit video tape of Robotech: The Movie! Yes, this is a significantly worse version of one of my favorite OVAs, Megazone 23 (Part 1), but STILL. Goes great with my legit theatrical poster! #robotech #megazone23 #anime #mecha
Oh P.S. re: campaign style, my plan is for starting with Heroic, the action TV show style. We may build up to legendary if we keep playing for a while!
If any mutuals, especially people who actually know me, are interested in playing a traditional tabletop RPG over internet voice chatting, HMU. I'm gonna GM a game of the 1996 R. Talsorian BUBBLEGUM CRISS RPG. No randos, plz. AnimEigo released the books here: www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/3g38p...
roblox is such trash. none of their fucking tools for importing 3d models made in normal software work. models that're fine in unity & unreal are trainwrecks in roblox. their error messages are useless shit. their support docs are worthless & they banned me for 7 days for this "sexual" avatar.
I did a quick search and couldn't find anything that looked like what I remember from when I was a baby in the '80s but here's a '70s one that was probably using the sort of logo. the red shield outline and the "S" are all connected and the yellow isn't!
Also shout out to Bruce Payne as our queen Damodar of the amazing blue lipstick and neverending attitude
I like BW more overall but BM has a really cool art style that has aged way better. I bring it up because it has Strika, a big stompy lady and Botanica, a fucking plant lady!
Here's Cloudburst in a human-ish disguise as a Pretender explaining why he's a virgin
Quick question, what gender is Overlord? Non-sentient but living robot body controlled simultaneously a human man and a human woman. Also they're married. What is that sexual orientation? Lol
Just picturing Ratchet looking incredulously at Grimlock and going, "You want WHAT? OKAY I GUESS"
Found my ticket stub & flier from when I saw Machine Head play with Videodrone (aka Cradle of Thorns) in SF! Added them to my CoT shrine alongside my CoT press kit a flier for an earlier CoT show in LA (I wasn't there). Cc @gonemage.bsky.social @tttlllrrr.bsky.social #goth #industrial #metal
Well, I learned something annoying today. The 1chip versions of the Super Nintendo including the SNES Jr. have graphical glitches on several games including some pretty ugly ones on Super Street Fighter II.
I don't know what happened behind the scenes with GQuuuuuux, but it was a real waste of potential. You can win me back with a manga showing us what Sayla was up to between Solomon and becoming the Fuhrer of Zeon. And her Light-Type Guncannon is the coolest robot in the show, BTW. Okay, bye!
Sayla was a nurse in training who slapped the shit out of Kai for failing to help evacuate old people and children from a space colony caught in a war. She pulls a gun on her brother. She is kind to victims and has no fucking time for cowards or people making excuses.
WHY, oh why, would Sayla Mass, want to be a fascist dictator? We don't see a lot of her in GQuuuuuux, but we know everything is the same until the timeline diverges so we'll just have to assume she's the same Sayla she always was.
Fast forward to the last moments of the last episode, and instead of letting Daddy's Little Anarchist, Casval "Char Aznable" Deikun, run Zeon after all the Zabis are dead, Charia Bull and friends' conspiracy successfully works out and they install as the new leader of Zeon, Artesia Som Deikun!
Sayla is like, "Peace out!" and flies away and absolutely did not get caught in Solomon. Plus there's the whole Zeknova thing where the entire Solomon space fortress vanishes in a puff of Newtype smoke or whatever.
HOWEVER the TV episode version of this scene is slightly different than the movie version and I swear to god inserts a single frame of fucking Lalah into this sequence. So even though Char has not met Lalah yet, she Newtype warns him not to kill his sister, much like in First Gundam.
She attacks Char and he's like, "Hey, it's the Light-Type Guncannon that killed Dolze Zabi", they fight, and Char has like a Newtype flash or whatever and goes, "It's Artesia!" and so stops trying to kill her, but she fucking shoots anyway with her cannon, collapsing the tunnel and trapping him.
In the movie and episode 8, the Federation tried to drop the Solomon space fortress on the city of Granada on the moon in order to kill a bunch of the Zabi family. Char is ordered to stop it and goes to Solomon and deliberately fucks up so the Federation's plan will succeed. Enter Sayla.
I would also like to point out that the GQuuuuuux RX-77-02 Guncannon shares more design language with the UC RX-77D Guncannon Mass Production Type with those little circles on the shoulders matching the knees and biceps, the general shape of the legs and arms being very similar, et cetera.
oh but wait there's a GQuuuuuux version of the Guncannon called the RX-77-02 Guncannon, yeah? Let's compare that! Okay they're both red and the torso and head are similar but the arms, hips, and legs all look like the GQuuuuuux Gundam. It's clearly a combination of the two. YOU CAN'T FOOL ME.
Compare the Light-Type Guncannon (or Light Cannon) to the GQuuuuuux version of the Gundam. (The red one's name is also Light Cannon, shhhh!) Black and white one is RX-78-01 01 Gundam, red white and blue is RX-78-02 White Gundam. What do you mean the Light-Type Guncannon isn't based on this?!
So this official profile pic deal from when the movie came out. Look at that name. Sayla Personal Use Light Cannon. Or Sayla Custom Light Cannon. 軽キャノン! 軽 is the kanji for "light" in the sense of lightweight like a light plane or truck. And the katakana キャノン is just kya-no-n. Cannon. NO GUN.
