Yep, just look at all those walking/cycling trails around the MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground), Melbourne Park and AAMI Park. And then the nearby public transport stops/stations etc. Albert Park for the F1 has had trams, but now also an underground train station a few hundred meters away.

There's still sadly so many regional areas across Victoria where the only charger is <= 50kW and/or there's a limited amount of charging bays/CCS2 plugs. Often those regional 50kW chargers have 1x CCS2 plug and 1x CHAdeMO.
Most of the Chinese competition here at that prince point (< $55,000 AUD) have LFP batteries, so range isn't as high. However, the Chinese competition is often $10k cheaper due to the LFP batteries with much more features packed in. Higher spec long range Chinese ones are much more expensive.

2021 population density map and some bus routes map for the areas I mentioned (via ptv Monash/Kingston maps). Sure, buses exist but 30mins frequency when feeding into a 10min frequency train network is not great (yes, I know 3min peak frequency for train and 20mins for some buses in peak).
Just did a compare of the EV3 with the Zeekr X that I'm getting. Thought it'd be interesting to add it to the mix 😂 They advertise this 2026 RWD as having the Zeekr "golden brick" battery, but it's still 400v architecture so only peaks at ~230kW rather than the 450kW+ of the 7X RWD/800v.
I think overall, people are trying to drive less or hanging on to their cars for longer. Those who need a new car, or can afford it are all moving away from pure Petrol and Diesel cars. I think the market share chart in this image shows it quite clearly. via www.drive.com.au/news/austral...
All that said, they've only got two models on sale vs BYD who have 6. So if you tally up per brand, it's clear that BYD EVs are dominating sales across Australia.

The Tesla Model Y still dominates YTD sales in Australia, but models from BYD are not too far behind on YTD. And other manufacturers Geely (maker of Zeekr) and others are quite competitive. Kia's EV5 sold in Australia is built in China with a BYD battery. Data: thedriven.io/2026/05/05/a...
Sooo... Did the test drive of this little Zeekr X RWD EV SUV. Quite liked it, have a few days to make up my mind on whether to go ahead with it. Their launch offer at $48,900 AUD ($35K USD) is such an incredible offer.
Went to have a look at the revised 2026 Zeekr X AWD over the weekend. Looked great, unfortunately they aren't doing test drives of the 2026 model until June/July. So I've got a test drive this afternoon for the 2024 RWD model. Wish they had more colours available in the RWD model.

A lot of schools near me have solar panels on their rooves. Sure some aren't huge systems, and there's probably just as many who don't have solar. But quite a number of them do have them.
Did a walk at Olinda Falls, it was just over 1km return. Lots of tall trees, a small (expected) water falls and then spotted a picnic table with a warning sign about Kookaburras stealing food 🤣
Visited the newly opened Swanston St entrance to the new Town Hall Station. You can also enter from Flinders Lane via Cocker or Scott Alley. Going down the first set of escalators takes to the concourse where the ticket barriers are. It also connects from there to the Camberwell Arcade tunnel.
