A post from Feminist News commenting TS & TK’s supposed wedding venue. “Taylor Swift is a billionaire. She could have had her wedding literally anywhere. A private island. Her 12,000-square-foot Rhode Island estate. One of her ultra-wealthy friends' sprawling compounds-Blake Lively alone has 12 acres in upstate New York.
There is no version of this story where options were limited.
And yet, allegedly, she's choosing to shut down roads around Madison Square Garden-directly across from one of the busiest transit hubs in the country-over a holiday weekend. Not a remote venue. Not a private space. The middle of New York City.
Let's be clear about what that means. It means commuters scrambling. Workers late to shifts they can't afford to miss.
Families navigating chaos during one of the few breaks they get all year. It means an entire city inconvenienced so one billionaire can stage a spectacle.
That's not just out-of-touch. It's a flashing neon sign of what extreme wealth actually buys: the ability to override everyone else's reality.
Because this isn't really about a wedding. It's about power. It's about a system where one person's "special day" can outweigh thousands of people's daily lives. Where public infrastructure becomes a private playground if you have enough money.
And while people are losing healthcare, bodily autonomy, stable housing, access to food-this is what unchecked wealth looks like in practice. Not abstract. Not theoretical. Real, disruptive, and completely normalized.
So yes, let's actually talk about it. When a billionaire can effectively shut down a major public space for days "just because," at what point do we say enough?
At what point does this stop being aspirational and start being unacceptable?”

While prepping to see Florence tomorrow I was playing music videos and Spectrum (Say My Name) came on. The dancers are dressed as ballet swans, very much like Taylor in Shake it Off. The lyrics talk about having no color in their skin but “say my name and every color illuminates”
