Starting to take shape -- if you can see it through the maze of clamps 🫣

Three pieces of ¾" thick walnut; two arcs with a square in between. On the inside of one arc bits of the concentric routed arcs with embedded magnets are visible.

The three pieces of walnut are getting glued together, with painter's tape guiding one set of edges into alignment. Two large parallel clamps are in place starting to hold it all together.

I swear the walnut pieces are in there somewhere in the mess of clamps (there are at least 13 clamps now binding the pieces together while the glue dries. Many of them are comically long for the glue up -- most are > 12" long and some as much as 4' long for a glue up that's approximately 2¼" thick. Hey, use what you've got 🤷🏼‍♀️)

Making a thing. Any guesses about what it is?

A wide walnut board with a series of approximately 90° concentric arcs cut into it.
In the background is a tremendously messy workshop featuring tape measure, heat gun, silicone molds, and a whole lot of sawdust. Each of these may or may not be related to the thing I'm making.

A Christmas gift. End grain, with beeswax melted in to make a permanent finish requiring little to no maintenance.

Cutting boards -- Christmas presents and commissions for others to give as presents. All end grain. Two have Tried and True Original finish (longer lasting than mineral oil + beeswax and as food safe); two have beeswax infusion (permanent finish; needs no further conditioning) #woodworking

Large maple + bocote checkerboard pattern end grain cutting board. This one has a beeswax infusion finish -- allowing the end grain to soak up molten beeswax, giving it a permanent finish that needs no future conditioning. This board can be hand washed and scrubbed with soap and water without causing any damage to the finish.

Mimosa River bowl woodworkingbyjess.com/store/p/mimo...

Yellow bowl made from mimosa wood, with a translucent blue epoxy "river" bisecting it, with visible swirls due to the mica powder mixed into the epoxy. It's fairly shiny due to a polish and finish with polyurethane and carnauba wax. The bowl is approximately 5.5" wide and 1.75" tall.

Rough early prototype, but completed my first bespoke fountain pen today. Mix of padauk and aluminum; hand turned and machined.

Bespoke fountain pen, closed. Appears almost as a padauk dowel in this form; there are no outwardly visible decorations and it is a consistent width across its length.

At the end of the padauk body, a machined aluminum section is visible, screwed into an aluminum threaded sleeve. A two-tone nib is screwed into the end of the section.
