I'm sat in a bar looking at this wall, wondering how these things are arranged. Does the company provide dummy bottles for the display, or is this bar inventory, or empty bottles with coloured water, or what?

I could do with rejigging the placement to enable me close the top sash completely and it only just fits on my fake wood sash window, but it does fit Room is noticeably cooler, even when the fan is off

Back in Sept 2025, I walked into my office building to discover that the company that deter pigeons for the area were doing show and tell in our foyer

Small (falcon I think) called Carlos, sitting on a perch on green tarpaulin

Different angle of the same bird I think. I did know at the time. This one shows his back and the banded feathers of his tail

Successfully finished off the weaving portion of a wee loom kit, and managed to achieve a faintly respectable hem stitch thanks to the Weaving Loom, who is on insta as @theweavingloom, and has a sort of outpost here bsky.app/profile/thew...

Coaster-sized piece of handwoven fabric, made with a purple/grey variegated sock weight wool

The ends of the weft threads have been sewn in but the long tails of weft thread left from cutting off the loom, which are just the same wool, still need to be sewn in

The sides of the weave are noticeably wobbly because I'm a novice

I feel like this guy would not understand why half of Europe fell about laughing at this photo and the other half felt seen I forget what the event was, but it was in Paris in 2024 and may have been the last time Keir did anything relatable

Lots of people sat in the open air at an event where they have clearly handed out rain ponchos to attendees. Keir Starmer is sat in his own rain coat, and hasn't even bothered to put the hood up

I cast off my scarf, in honour of this week having been freezing. If the sun comes back, you can all thank me later Reversible Arrow scarf pattern, which I got as a freebie with James C Brett marble chunky wool

Oh, yep. Stitch twins! From sometime before the pandemic, in my case, and I think it's still not stitched up nicely into a proper bookmark

That is me with cross stitch. The knitting mostly consists of balls of wool and dreams of competance. I have been trying to work them down. The last monster one I actually finished (and framed!) was this one from Wyrd Sisters. I can't remember which way up the original designer had it

Today was fun. Went to Wisley and found there was a craft fair going on. As well as the plants, I took a lot of photos of the art I liked, but only as an aide memoire to guide me back to things I might want to buy/would dream about being able to afford. So here's one shot to represent all those

Bonsai tree, which kind of looks like a dog's favourite stick got planted and sprouted perfect puffs of miniature leaves

I can't remember what this plant was called, but it's got dark green shiny leaves and an extremely vivid red/orange flower, comprising lots of small triangular petals pointing up. The flower is the focus of the photo

Vase with a design of a dragon in flight, over a mountain and next to what could be a sun or full moon. Design is brown, over a cream/terracotta background.

I seem to have also included a different item in the foreground: a grey ghost (of the sheet draped over a kid variety) with red eyes. It's also cute

On the plus side, my tension is tighter now, and this one is not just garter stitch It's longer than this now, but for something that uses knit, purl, yarn over and a double decrease, it's deceptively fancy looking

Chief Warrant Officer 3 Robert M. Marzan, 54, of Sacramento, Calif., was at the scene of the incident on March 1, 2026, in Port Shuaiba, Kuwait, and is believed to be the individual who perished at the scene. Positive identification of Chief Warrant Officer 3 Marzan will be completed by the medical examiner. The Soldier was assigned to the 103rd Sustainment Command, Des Moines, Iowa

My tip for beginners who want a kit is the Mouseloft brand. Super cheap, small enough to finish fairly quickly, good thread and no half stitches And if you get waste canvas too (it's a type of fabric), you can cross stitch one of them onto fabric really easily (example is not Mouseloft)

I have made progress on this #crossstitch design

The same cross stitch design as the one I posted a few days ago: two women's faces, one an angel in blues and white, one a devil in orange and red, facing in opposite directions

Rather more of the angel's wing is filled in than before. I have nearly reached the bottom third of it and you can see it will taper towards the devil's face, like an extremely elaborate ying yang

The heads of an angel and a devil, joined at the neck and facing in opposite directions, on pale green variegated Aida fabric. The orange devil's face and wing are mostly complete, but trail off, while the angel is still being worked on, but the face is complete. Kit from Wyrd Sisters, but I used fabric from stash

I used to work with a guy who bought a 16th century home, just before there were massive floods across Gloucester. The house that they had bought 2-4 months earlier had zero foundations to speak of and they had to move out for months

Voila! Chart folder and finished stitching

The folder holding the chart, with a picture of the finished design. It's a DMC chart called The Willow Fairy, and is mostly sewn in shades of green, cream, and brown

My finished version, before I washed and pressed it and took it to the framers. You can see a few threads at the top. I had to put in guide threads to mark every 10th stitch, otherwise it was impossible to track where I was, sewing an area with multiple near-identical shades of green

It is a very pretty image, though not in what has become my normal style

Occasionally you get a gem from the bot that tracks edits to the NYT

Three replies showing how the NYT has updated its lead and title to the story about the Delta planes crashing. The first shows that the lead originally read "an inbound flight was taxiing to the gate when it was struck by an outbound plane, the authorities said. One passenger was injured." This has been altered to start "A plane that was preparing to take off struck a plane that had landed...". The following two posts show that someone changed the name of the airport to La Guardia, and (presumably) a second person switched it back to LaGuardia. This is very funny if you are a copy editor

Banana bread is one of those cakes I just keep making, because it's so damn easy. This one has a mix of banana and apple puree in it, because those were the fruit we needed to use up. It's darker than usual because I use brown sugar
