Probably drinking tea and thinking about stars (she/they)
The overall shape is inspired by a larger shoulder bag pictured in this ming dynasty painting (see the upper left) but the construction is more like the magyar tarsoly. It ended up smaller than either though, about the size of an open hand.
Got to test it out properly at the range yesterday>:3 v2 needs a couple minor adjustments but overall it worked like a dream
lots of progress today! left to do: -stitching -bottom wooden block -finalize brass bottom band -rigging -belt -back pocket
Today's project: learning leather braiding This is a 4 strand flat braid for the wristband section that turns into a round braid to go up to the ring. The braid ends with a Turk's head knot and is lashed to the ring with a Salomon bar.
One common route is to attach the breadboard to a base of some sort and attach jacks to that
Starting to settle into a more comfortable shot cycle with the new bow :3
me, exporting a 16 page fundraising booklet at 1am to send to the printers that I had less than 2 days to do all the design and layout for due to a miscommunication about the scope of work but has to be ready by thursday for donor meetings
My cleanest attempt at a one piece tied bowstring so far :) Love how the colors pop in the sunlight
you could also look at modern lever type compound bows like the oneida osprey. these have a static "riser" grip in the middle and smaller, hinged moving limbs attached to pulleys/cams
if you did want to have a harp like design but also have it be functional as a mundane bow, penobscot bows are a historical north american indigenous bow design that have one or more smaller bows lashed to the main bow connected via strings/cables
see here the difference in shape between the bow when drawn vs when it's just at brace (strung but not drawn)
So the hinge actually isnt that wild. bows hinged in the middle were a thing in the late Qing dynasty. pictured: modern qing bow, strung, historical folding qing bow unstrung, historical folding qing bow folded
