Released August 6th 1979, many contend that Bauhaus’s Bela Lugosi’s Dead was the first goth record released, but it is heavily debated. Whatever you think I believe it was an important record in the formation of our wonderful scene.
As Pride Month draws to an end, a small reminder that the scene was always queer from the start.

I was contacted last night by Bruce Haley, the man behind the iconic imagery used for 'Goth Box', a compilation album that much of the goth scene will be familiar with. I'll be posting his words later, once I've had a cuppa and taken care of a phone call 😉
How the literal HELL is it only 2 days to World Goth Day? If you're out there organising a WGD event year after year like an unstoppable final boss, we love you. You're inspiring others to get up and do the same. Just look at us all. Getting up and doing goth community stuff. Damn.

Great news! A pizza business from California wants to set up their food truck at this year's World Goth Day event. Uh...I hope they have passports and a LOT of staff.
The Sisters of Mercy released 'No Time To Cry' the second single from their debut album 'First And Last And Always' on this day in 1985 (I still bemoan the loss of my copy on vinyl)

Released 35 years ago today... I remember travelling down to Wembley to see them perform on their Vision Thing tour, that felt far too long ago.
Released on this day in 1983. It might have sounded like it was recorded in a cave but that was the sheer beauty of it. You know you're old when you can still taste the smoke machine in the back of your throat from the first time you heard this.
