If there is one thing that I worry about the most in this primary it's that Haley Stevens would win the primary and lose the general election. She has virtually no ground game until this week. She's not doing public events. She's not taking questions from audience members.
As much as her supporters would like to have you believe, she's not like Slotkin. Slotkin has a far redder district. She managed to hold on in 2022, but it was considerably tighter than Stevens. Tom Barrett would later go on to win this seat back for the GOP in 2024.
Fast forward to 2024, she's winning pretty comfortably again this time in a red wave year. Though throughout the district there's a shift to the right, her district is pretty damn safe, especially after it was redistricted in 2022 with Michigan's nonpartisan redistricting committee
Fast forward to 2022, you've got an anomalous year, where she basically stomps her competition, largely due to the wake of Dobbs, and a really contentious statewide constitutional amendment that would enshrine a woman's right to an abortion.
Haley's first incumbency test was 2020. Remember 2020, it was an incredibly high turnout election. It was also very close for her

I did try to make this point to someone seemingly raging and trying to tie Platner to other candidates. It went like this:
I mean look at that sucker, there's like five whole people in there! I think Shah is thinking about putting himself forward for Senate. Maybe he will! But what if he had before all of this shit hit the fan? Same with Jackson.
I just got called a "dumb slut"! If it wasn't meant to be abusive it was almost flattering!
Shhh, they'll hear you! People have every right to be angry about Platner. But they should perhaps be directing anger at people other than voters? I offered them to make a case why I should vote for Stevens, and was immediately accused of misogyny.
Misogyny isn't one candidate attacking another for being terrible on the stump or on the debate stage. It's a legit line of attack. Stevens has taken a ton of corporate money. El-sayed criticizing her for that is not misogyny. You can find it abrasive, but this isn't misogyny. It's a typical attack!
