AEW Writer for Last Word on Pro Wrestling Been making wrestlers cry since 2024. Tackling wrestling myths and narratives. Seeing things differently.
Made from scratch turkey burgers with a homemade tomatoes and onion salsa. First homemade burgers of the summer but not he last.
Finished the audio version of Stephen Fry's Mythos and enjoyed his versions of the myths and his shameless use of alliteration and sibilance. Luckily I finished listening just before the wire connecting my old iPod to the car broke. #booksky📚💙
Came across this page of panels in Locke and Key and it feels extremely poignant to the current world where many folks, like the character, are depressed, feel helpless and isolated and find in the news confirmation of their existing perspectives that keep in place.
Finished reading this morning g the forst volume of Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez' Locke and Key and I was hooked from the first panel. I love Hill's style in hia novels and short stories, and given my library has most of the volumes, my summer reading is sorted #graphicnovels #comics #booksky📚💙
Finished reading this morning Marjane Satrapi's Persepolis and come away learning more about the Islamic Revolution and somewhat inspired by a young girl and her family's rebelliousness during a time of terror while acknowledging their luck. A good accompaniment to Maus #booksky📚💙 #graphicnovels
Finished the 2md Percy Jackson book today with a student. It's never too late to catch up in something you missed out as a YA reader. Looking forward to reading the 3rd in September. #booksky📚💙
The mafia/gang themed production of Hamlet we saw yesterday started with a guy tied to a chair, covered in blood and looked like Eddie Kingston from Anarchy in the Arena. I would pay good money to see Kingston read Shakespeare. #wrestlesky🤼 #AEW
Finished my 2nd poetry anthology of the year. I have been reading a few poems a day since and this little collection of poems for kids was refreshing, got me revisiting some classics and finding some old poems I should check out. #booksky📚💙
Finished Ender's Game today. I found it hard to put down despite the heat. The characters, story and morality gripped me. I recognise the author is problematic so I want to advocate that if you don't want to give someone money, 2nd hand books are good option. #booksky📚💙
We watched Downsizing tonight. For years I always felt like the premise was quite unique and whilst it was hard to fault the concept and most of the execution, it felt like it would be better as arcs of a tv series rather than 1 aimless-feeling film #filmsky
Did my 1st proper playtest of a co-op wrestling #TTRpG game this evening I'm been trying with for a year and it went better than expected. While this a bit raw, there were some dynamite moments and great feedback to improve things #wrestlesky🤼♂️
Finished listening today to the audiobook version of Jim Ross' Slobberknocker, My Life in Wrestling. As much as I enjoyed it from a storytelling standpoint and historical talk of wrestling from territories to mainstream, with a good storyteller, I'm glad wrestling has changed. #wrestlesky🤼
Look a walk today after work where I sat down and read the next chapter of my current read in peace for 30 minutes. Sat under the shade of a tree. Lovely. #booksky📚💙
First time playing with @andy.wrestlejoy.com 5starbooker.com and 1st dream match card I made was a 5 star classic! If I had been a bit less TK about it, I could have given the women the main event spotlight and have a 6 star card. I'm definetly not going to bw chasing this dragon
Finished novel 5 of 2026. Morality Play was a uni leftover od my partner's and like plenty of Booker Prize shortlisted or winning books I've read, it was well written, with some interesting ideas and a solid story but left me feeling fine. #booksky📚💙
A great collection of gifts from my students who finished their time working with me as a turor last, who have now sat their final GCSE English exams. Not featured is a card, a bar of Dairy Milk and homemade jar of honey. Glad to have more of my evenings free again, at least until September.
Finished Robert Wright's Why Buddhism is Right which focuses on the power of mediation to help address illusions, illusions and emotions. During a very angry week it was calming and a reminder to me of the power and repeated issues I face mediating. Comprehensive and enlightening. #booksky📚💙
It's Friday and that means games night amd we are playing Eat the Reich, which is Inglorious Bastards with vampires and the character my friend has chosen, a classic vampire looks like a Toxic Spider #AEW #wrestlesky🤼♂️
Had a bizarre dream for an #AEW cinematic/plunder brawl match called "Hostile Hotel". A women's Stadium Stampede/WWE's Diva Era piss take. Highlight: Mini Mone scored the win after not dying in ways that would kill Darby Allin after an assist from a returning, face turned Mercedes Mone 1/2
Finished reading Jaws today. Started reading on the beach, got through most of it in the plane home and finished the final section this morning. Well written and paved with subtext and elements of social commentary that reminded me that I need to include more thrillers in my rotation #booksky📚💙
Started watching Contra las Cuerdas, Against the Ropes. 2 episodes in, Stephanie Vaquer (Baker according to subtitles) cameos and can't compete because the protagonist throws her boots up on a high wire out of reach. Shocked WWE hasn't used something that daft for a storyline #wrestlesky🤼♂️
Forgot to post a few days ago that I've read my first collection of H P Lovecraft stories. Having read those inspired by Lovecraft, the style/tropes were familiar, the racism/xenophobia/racism blatant and yet the better stories and their imagination have intrigued me enough to read more #booksky📚💙
Final day of Tenerife holiday and we spent the evening in Teide National Park in sight of "active" volcano stargazing in the 2nd best place on the planet to view the night sky. Breathtaking. We saw the moon gleam, Vega sparkle and the storms of Jupiter dance like pencil stroke animation. 🌠🌕
It's been an up and down holiday. Not done everything we want due to being ill. Not the 1st English couple to lose weight at an inclusive buffett, I'm sure! Still, we got stargazing tonight. Plus, I got to start reading Jaws on a beach! #booksky🤼♂️
At the airport with time to kill and my beach holiday reads prepped. Poetry for waking up, Lovecraft for now and the plane, and Jaws for the beach. #booksky📚💙
My personal head cannon. Ciampa, you sick b@stard! That chicken has a family to support. It's unemployed brother...
