Spotted this tree in Washington DC near the Smithsonian Museum in December 1969. Can it be identified?
The famous Wye Oak at Wye Mills, Maryland, at one time recognized as the largest white oak in America. At its end (in 2006), the tree measured 31 feet 8 inches in circumference, was 96 feet tall and had an average crown spread of 119 feet. Photo taken in 1970.

Found this beauty basking in the late afternoon sun on a rural blacktop road on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Fearing it might get run over, I picked it up, took a picture (shown here), and carried it well off the road to set it down in a safer place. As I did so, the little ingrate bit me!
I posted this earlier - A tulip poplar growing at the edge of Pocomoke Swamp on the eastern shore of Maryland. Known to the locals simply as "the Big Tree", the gentleman standing next to it was about 68" (173 cm) tall. Photo taken by me in 1969.
That little shiny object is my then brand-new 1969 Firebird 400 that I drove into Pocomoke Cypress Swamp on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. I also drove it back out...
