It's actually even more when we consider the warming caused, rather than just the GHG emissions
There is some irony in this post, with Katharine Hayhoe blocking so many accounts she feels are telling the truth a bit too radically for her?
We have a new flyer for the 30 July screening in Lewisham, which includes conversations with a great panel! All welcome and it's free, but hurry up as it's getting booked fast! www.tickettailor.com/events/lewis...
30 June, 7.30 pm All welcome to this screening, followed by a discussion, with panellists @charliejgardner.bsky.social (whose forthcoming book is: "What one person can do - Why a climate scientist still has hope) and artist/campaigner/strategist @claretotty.bsky.social, who was co-founder of XR 👇
There's a huge gap between "a recurring theme that all of humanity is a pest species" - which I have never witnessed within XR - and the fact, confirmed by all relevant organisations, that our numbers, at current levels of consumption, are unsustainable. www.un.org/development/...
“Globally, GDP per capita *and population growth* remained the strongest drivers of CO₂ emissions from fossil fuel combustion in the last decade (robust evidence, high agreement)” IPCC AR6 WG3, Chapter 2, Section 2.4.1
According to government figures, 50-59% of Lewisham residents are within a 15 minute walk to a green space. Ideally, we should all have such access. www.gov.uk/government/s...

"Change the system, not the climate" is a common demand in the climate movement. But what kind of system do we actually want? In the midst of humanity's worst crisis, there are pioneers standing ready. Meet the new economic perspectives that have the potential to change the world at its core."
In Europe, where this account is based, there are clear trends of 👉 Flying increasing 👉 Meat consumption reducing quite fast (The currently-fascist-governed USA is something else, with its new dietary guidelines going against all nutrition & environmental guidance and promoting red meat 😒)

Friendly gatherings to chat about sustainability over a pint (or whatever drink you like). Next one January 13th www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/lewisham-s...
The piece makes it clear that what has happened is a harbinger of what might come. The author also states explicitely that "the UK is not Hungary". I know her credentials 👇. I don't know yours. Anyway, I'm leaving this conversation, thanks!
And don't forget to "tell the truth" (XR's first demand) at a time of huge avoidance, denial and misinformation!
Why is this old post stuck at the top my 'Climate Science' feed? On my personal Bluesky account, I've been blocked by Katharine Hayhoe (together with many others!) for mentioning the role of meat in the climate & nature crises, as she addressed the Meat Institute www.youtube.com/watch?v=2EXu...
