Right now at my Israeli Uni, the word “Palestine” in an email from the VP of DEI was enough to trigger backlash from students. That is the scandal: naming Palestine is treated as provocation. This is how normalized erasure and genocide have become.

Question for the #map #maps #cartography communities. Does a graphic have to based on geography for it to be considered a map? Or can things like this by @reportbywilson.bsky.social also be considered maps? What about cartography? Is there a subset or specialty that deals with this type of thing?
