Mentally & physically have been broken by an entire month of mandatory overtime & extreme heat, but thankfully movies have kept me going. Remember, while big budgets & high concepts get a lots of mainstream attention, nothing beats a simple & efficient film done right. Simply put: WATCH EVERYTHING
Criticizes Nolan's casting choices, but video he links to starts by showing a white guy looking like he was a cast-off from CLASH OF THE TITANS and says he'll make sure a work of fiction featuring mythological creatures & figures will be "historically accurate" In case anyone wanted a good laugh...
TFW work is so busy & chaotic they ask office people to come help out on the warehouse floor:
After working another 50-hr week & having to miss the press screening due to joint pain, I'm making the smart decision & seeing THE ODYSSEY in 7mm @ 8:30am today...because it's the only free time I have between watching FANTASIA screeners & other engagements. 🎶NO SLEEP *bwamp bwamp* TILL ITHACA 🎶
You know you're a special kind of dork when you play POWERWASH SIMULATOR 2: STAR WARS DLC and you start yelling "CAD BANE!!" when you spot a little easter egg out in the open of the Mos Eisley level....
It's a very special version of @nightmarejunkhead.bsky.social's Friday Night Frights at Screenland Armour tonight. Not only is friend Dustin Pryor co-hosting the film, but it's my wife's first time seeing PREDATOR (a fact that Dustin, who has seen the film over 1000 times, never lets her live down)!
Had to take a week off due to being sick, BUT it's another Friday Night at Screenland Armour, where @nightmarejunkhead.bsky.social is having a fantastic Friday Night Frights, where everyone is heading to where the monsters dwell, as it's time for Clive Barker's NIGHTBREED the director's cut!
My wife & I got a bird feeder for our place recently and today was the 1st day I'd seen birds show up. Of course when I told my wife the birds were gone and a squirrel was in their place. She knocked on the window & told the squirrel to get lost. The squirrel then laid down...while looking at her.
Very glad, very happy that at least 1 thing isn't CURSED in is 2027. Congrats to the Knicks for winning the finals & breaking their drought. As a Chiefs fan, I totally understand how that feels. Now to the big questions. Does Danhausen get to lead the parade or only get a championship ring?
Amazing. A Variety writer, who ONLY writes about AI, wrote a piece about an AI movie that screened at Cannes marketplace (since the actual festival has banned AI movies), and not only misrepresents the headline, but the whole piece reads like an ad for the company behind the movie. This is baffling.
Had a very Midwesterner moment tonight. While recording a podcast w/ @nightmarejunkhead.bsky.social a big storm hits & we think we hear tornado sirens. Jenius waves it off. So we keep recording. Power goes out. We keep recording. Tornado sirens get louder & we keep recording for another half hour.
Everyday Ripley will put her face down into whatever she is laying on, once she wants to go to sleep. Doesn't matter the place or surface. Unfortunately for her, it always looks like she's knee-deep in an existential crisis when she does so
It's Friday night and Screenland Armour is showing a special edition of @nightmarejunkhead.bsky.social's FRIDAY NIGHT FRIGHTS. They're firing up the old timey projector & doing a 35mm screening of ALIEN³! Yes, it's divisive, but it's ALIEN on FILM on the BIG SCREEN! You can't beat that!
This is wild to type but a German & an American just put on an insane barn burner of a match down in Mexico's AAA in a Mask vs Mask match that had everything. Run-ins. Mystery guests. Fire extinguishers. Exploding guitars. Bloodied faces. Blood on the mat. Dozens of weapons And. It. Was. Awesome.
Another Friday night. Another Screenland @nightmarejunkhead.bsky.social Friday Night Frights showing. Yet, while others are checking out BACKROOMS, I'm basking in the gorgeous 4k B&W goodness that is GOJIRA (1954). Movies are magical. Seeing them in a theater is even more special.
Friday. Screenland Armour. @nightmarejunkhead.bsky.social's FRIDAY NIGHT FRIGHTS screening of VIRTUOSITY. A movie that both Greg & Jenius have never seen before. A movie that I have a soft spot for, regardless of how dumb or nonsensical it may be at times.
Friday night at Screenland for @nightmarejunkhead.bsky.social's FRIDAY NIGHT FRIGHTS showing of KILLER KLOWNS FROM OUTER SPACE. We even got a short (10 mins is short to this man) introduction from the one and only @thejoelynch.bsky.social ! I love practical effects, so-so on Klowns. This movie rules
Another Friday and I'm here at Screenland Armour for @nightmarejunkhead.bsky.social's Friday Night Frights screening of UNDER THE SKIN...which, will be a first time viewing for me (I know, I'm allowed a blind spot here & there) and I'm very excited to see how it sits with me!
Friday night, before my birthday, so I'm at Screenland for @nightmarejunkhead.bsky.social's Friday Night Fright for a special, special and SOLD OUT screening of FREAKED!!!!
Thanks to Last Week Tonight I made the mistake of going down a "Cocaine Race Horses" Google rabbit hole, but found this amazing Chicago Tribune story that makes me think the world was a simpler place years ago...
It's another Friday night, and after 1 night off, I'm back at Screenland Armour for @nightmarejunkhead.bsky.social's Friday Night Frights screening of SANTA SANGRE, on the big screen in theater 1!
Kicking off opening night of Panic Fest in Kansas City with a special 35mm screening of YOU'RE NEXT with AJ Bowen presenting!
It's Friday night, so again I'm at Screenland Armour, as @nightmarejunkhead.bsky.social hosts a Friday Night Frights screening of MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE (40TH ANNIVERSARY)!! Also, it turns out @abbyolcese.bsky.social is seeing this for the first time! Just remember, cocaine is a hell of a drug...
It's Friday night and Screenland Armour has crammed everyone into a small & claustrophobic theater for a sold out screening of CUBE as part of @nightmarejunkhead.bsky.social's Friday Night Frights series! Love this little film & just makes me want to watch Natali's NOTHING afterwards.
It's Friday night. It's the 13th. So of course I'm at Screenland Armour for @nightmarejunkhead.bsky.social's Friday Night Fright screening of FREDDY VS JASON...in 35mm!! The last time I saw this in the theater was a rowdy-as-all-get-out night one midnight show in Chicago in 2003. Wild times.
Listen, I understand the desire for "immersion" in certain ways, but being coy about "we aren't going to let you know our secret magical concoction" is undone when you still list your "main" ingredient as alcohol, in a baking product, IP be damned.
It's another Friday so I'm at Screenland Armour for @nightmarejunkhead.bsky.social Friday Night Frights screening of SUNSHINE! Love this film. From screening it at AMC back in the day, to watching it at home, I'm excited to see it once again on the big screen (with a crowd of 85% first timers!)
You could argue that everything in 2026 is cursed and very evil, but I'll take anything very nice & Danhausen on my TV in WWE is weirdly very nice, indeed! #eliminationchamber
