Last month, I was lucky enough to attend a Q&A panel and book signing event with DS at a beautiful chapel. Beyond being a great writer, he is such a charming and eloquent speaker. I got to tell him Shuggie devastated me and that I went to a Wolfgang Tillmans exhibit to see Mungo’s cover up close.
Brimming with empathy and poignancy, this novel speaks to long-held secrets and repressed desires while painting a vivid, atmospheric portrait of life in the Scottish isles. The final pages kept me utterly riveted late into the night. A triumph. #DouglasStuart #JohnOfJohn
