Gillian (Jill)

Married, queer, Midwestern. She/her. Made of sterner stuff, despite appearances. Not giving up anytime soon. 🏳️⚧️ 🏳️🌈
This is from 2021, but you wouldn't know that from this contextless screenshot of a screenshot shared widely and amplified by big accounts like Jeri Ryan. We can do better.
Also, I didn't add these tags but have fun with every trans person knowing exactly who you are.
Tonight has been an emotional rollercoaster of anxiety and solidarity and just all the feelings, but I'm going to bed on this high note. Going to try and not be on here for a day or so. Be safe and well, lovely ones. We're going to survive this together. We have to.
Thank you for reminding me of this incident so I can share one of the best memes I've ever seen about him.
I'm Gillian (but also go by Jill). Married to my wife of almost 22 years who I adore more than anything, and we have two great teenagers. I've been out as trans for almost 7 years now. I occasionally write (I'll post one piece below) but mostly try to keep my head above water.
The number of times I have run into this situation in real life is actually kind of ludicrous.
But I'm not just posting to recognize this but because in the midst of all that awfulness, one of my friends made an image that I will always treasure:
My elder son got a Pokemon chess set as an early Christmas present from family, so I taught him to play and we had a few games. (And I accidentally put him in checkmate twice, lol.)
I keep this cover on my phone because it is exactly why the Atlantic is and has been garbage for a while.
Hey look, it's Seth Andrews doing less thinking and more bigoting. Good without god, huh?
I'm still here, folks. I'm scared of the suffering that may be ahead, but I'll be goddamned if I let them erase me.
Trans folks and allies who follow me: Here's one to add to your block list. @thefactualentity.bsky.social is openly harassing trans women.
