Game #22: Rhythm Tengoku/Rhythm Heaven Silver This was really fun! It's super cute and charming, and it was also a lot less daunting than I expected for the most part. Some of the scoring requirements were confusing (including in my favor in a few cases), but beyond that, it was a nice chill time.
Game #21: Star Fox (2026) It's a fun take on a game that I still don't think needed a remake. Like, I warmed up to the character designs overall, and the environments are really pretty, but I still wish it was either a more drastic departure (a la the Resident Evil remakes) or a brand-new game.
Game #20: Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream I... wish I liked it more? It kinda suffered from the New Horizons problem of a lot of the fun depends on the customization features that I didn't really engage with. I also felt like a lot of the dialogue and minigames repeated surprisingly quickly.
I want to get in the habit of posting schedules more often. I'm going to try to alternate Foxgirl's Favorites and variety weeks for a bit, so if all goes well, I'm going to be playing Rhythm Tengoku for the first time and trying out Robo-Ky in Strive. :3
Game #19: The Quiet Man During the first playthrough, I was like, "the gameplay sucks, but the cutscenes and glitches are kinda fun to riff on with friends." The second playthrough with audio was actually much less enjoyable because of how racist and ableist a lot of the characters are.
Game #18: Mina the Hollower I was really looking forward to this, and while I still liked it, I didn't click with it as much as I wanted to. I liked the exploration and vibes, but the combat difficulty was a bit much, and there were a few dark/uncomfy moments that caught me off guard in a bad way.
Game #17: Sonic the Hedgehog Triple Trouble Outside of a couple annoying bosses and a lot of slowdown, this was a fun time but kinda unmemorable? It's very solid as a Game Gear game, but if anything, it made me want to try the 16-bit fan game.
Game #16: Resident Evil Revelations There's a lot of good ideas, but I thought the execution was incredibly iffy. I liked the atmosphere in theory, but I don't think the action and horror was blended well, and the gameplay annoyed me with a mix of bullet-sponge bosses and stiff controls.
Contemplating making good life choices :3 (I have never played Final Fantasy V)
Game #15: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate I didn't vibe with it? I mostly got it because two of my partners did, but as someone with no attachment to the franchise, it got tedious fast. There wasn't enough variety to each route, so the 8 runs for the true ending were a grind.
Game #14: Pikuniku This was super cute and charming! It's a pretty short and straightforward puzzle-platformer, but the character writing was really good, and the whole experience honestly felt very refreshing.
Game #13: Saints Row 2 This was a huge improvement over the first. Like, it actually had checkpoints to the point where the one softlock I experienced was no big deal. Outside of some glitches and the awful helicopter controls, this was fun and up there with SR3 for me for tonally opposite reasons.
I will also reiterate that this is hot off the heels of RTD praising how nice his "gender critical" (aka, transphobic) friends are while promoting his newest show.
Apparently, a Japanese ad for Resident Evil Veronica shows the back of Claire's jacket, and I have to say, I really miss the "Let me live" text. As a trans gal who literally named myself after her, it definitely hits different given everything lately...
Thomas Mahler, the founder of Moon Studios, has also continued to make really shitty comments, including a ton of dog whistles regarding "politics" and trans people, so he hasn't gotten any better.
I might be a little late, but I am still planning on streaming today. Starting a totally normal playthrough of The Wind Waker. :3c
Game #12: Saints Row (2006) As someone who liked 3 and 4 a lot, this was easily the most frustrated I've gotten at a game in a long time, due to a lot of bugs, a crash during what's already apparently considered the worst mission in the game, and the complete lack of checkpoints within missions.
Game #11: Raccoin This was fun, but I feel like the difficulty was almost too easy? I found specific setups early on that steamrolled even the higher difficulties, but I still liked it as kind of a low stakes game to relax with.
Game #10: Transistor After two playthroughs and a month to process my feelings on it, which is what held up me updating this thread, I'm of two minds with this? I never felt like I fully clicked with the gameplay, but the story and ending hit extremely hard and elevated my overall thoughts.
Game #9: Poker Night at the Inventory (2026) I liked it, but I also feel like I'm simultaneously really bad at poker and unfamiliar with all of the characters. It got me interested in 3/4 series at least?
Game #8: Sonic Robo Blast 2 I... ended up respecting it more than liking it? It started well, but a lot of the later stages (which apparently are getting overhauled soon anyway) were really frustrating to me. Still, I'm really impressed by the technical aspects of this.
Game #7: Sonic Racing Crossworlds I liked this a lot! I had a couple frustrations with the Red Ring placements, partly due to only having one shot at a lot of them without having to start the Grand Prix over, but the fundamental gameplay and course design is really solid.
Game #6: Spyro: Year of the Dragon I generally liked it more than 2 but less than 1. I think it has higher highs than 2 but also some pretty low lows. The level design was also easier to parse and made the backtracking easier, but the extra gameplay styles kinda dragged down the pacing for me.
Game #5: Peggle Extreme What I said about Nights also applies to this one, but I did appreciate the references to various Valve games.
Game #4: Peggle Nights I mean, it's more Peggle. It's fun, but I also struggled a lot with my own lack of patience when it came to lining up shots.
Game #3: Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage! I felt kinda mixed on it? The levels felt more uneven than Spyro 1, and while it's still a good game, I had a lot of hang-ups with the level design (mostly with the backtracking) and also visual clarity in the Reignited Trilogy version that added up after a while.
Game #2: UNBEATABLE [white label] Yes, I'm counting this, since it has its own achievement set and story. It was interesting hearing early versions of songs, and I really liked getting additional backstory for Beat. I kinda wish I had played it before the main game, but it also worked this way.
Game #1: UNBEATABLE I struggled with the gameplay at times, but the story completely won me over in the last two chapters. Like, despite my frustrations around the middle, it's the most sincere and emotionally pointed game I've played in ages, and the rough patches actually heightened that feeling.
Don't really have any specific ideas in mind, but I figured I'd join in. :3
Game #24: Peggle Deluxe Peggle has become an in-joke among my friends, but I don't know if it's my cup of tea? It's definitely a skill issue though, as I continually made terrible shots due to not being patient enough.
