Throwing my hat in the ring cuz I feel like it :) (opinions and such in the alt text)

A Tiermaker tier list of Monster Hunter weapons. At the top is Gunlance, Sword and Shield and Insect Glaive. In the second tier is Heavy Bowgun. In the third tier is Great Sword and Hammer. In the fourth tier is Lance, Dual Blades and Long Sword. In the final tier is Light Bowgun, Charge Blade, Bow, Switch Axe and Hunting Horn.

To elaborate a bit more, I originally started with MHGU and picked Gunlance as my first weapon. It sucked and I dropped the game only to pick it up later as an Aerial Hammer main. Since then I've dabbled in some older and newer games and I've really come to enjoy Gunlance Gen 5 and onwards. Sword and Shield came into my life during my most recent MHGU playthrough and I absolutely fell in love. Insect Glaive was also a frequent use in GU. Heavy Bowgun, and ranged weapons in general, always felt impossible to use in the old gen style. It just felt /really bad/ to use them. I absolutely LOVE HBG in Gen 5 and onwards though. I still love using Hammer, just not as often anymore. Great Sword I'm still getting the hang of, but I do really love using Adept GS in GU (though I'm trying to get the hang of just using Guild style). Lance I picked up recently due to a stream viewer and I found it to be really fun! Dual Blades are used by some friends of mine. I hate having to chugjug Dash Juice every minute though so it's definitely not my favorite. I use Long Sword when I just don't really feel like caring that much! Otherwise I never give much thought to the rest of the weapons. The Samus Arm Cannon in GU being a light bowgun makes me extremely depressed (even though I'm pretty sure LBG is better in that game).
