I can't believe nobody told me how goddamn good Interview With the Vampire was. We just wrapped season 2 and god DAMN.
Shudder may be shitting the bed - okay, they are 100% spraying greasy diarrhea across the sheets, yes - but at least we get to watch Interview With the Vampire this month. We're still in season 1, they just introduced Claudia!
Just watched Man Finds Tape. Pretty damn good once it gets rolling; the premise is unlike anything I've seen before. Benson & Moorhead produced and those guys have a great eye for a good story. And mockumentaries are my favorite sort of found footage. Damn creepy! Well worth a watch, it's on Tubi.
Now watching the Phil Tippett doc, Mad Dreams and Monsters. Been meaning to get to this one for awhile! It's on Tubi.
Wasn't able to get much drawing or painting in for the last month with all the moving, so I'm knocking the dust off filling up sketchbook pages. Still have to get my oil painting corner set up though.
Norman was having trouble getting started on this one because he was distracted; he'd asked out a girl he liked and she'd turned him down, saying she was busy that night. One of his friends was like, "She actually WAS busy, you dope. She likes you, ask her out!" He did; 2 weeks later he proposed!
If you want to know how that godawful Dahmer series of Ryan Murphy's could've been approached in a way that wasn't godawful, Des - about Scottish serial killer Dennis Nilsen - is how. It's short - three hour long episodes - and very very good. David Tennant is chilling. On Tubi right now.
New place is starting to shape up. Plus, actual insulation and double glazed windows! It's a house that actually stays 78 when we set the thermostat to 78.
Watching this now. Fascinating story, guy forged piles of pieces and gifted them to museums all over the country. Zero jail time because he didn't do anything illegal!
Tubi's algorithm took us straight from Kung Fu Hustle into Big Trouble In Little China, and I'm okay with that.
Well, damn, just saw the news about Suzanne Romero on the Foundation's Facebook page.. "It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Suzanne Desrocher Romero. Suzanne passed away of natural causes on June 24 at her home in Toronto after a prolonged illness."
We're balls deep in the middle of moving (well, closer to the end than the middle!) but I'm still trying to make time to sketch & paint a bit.
Rewatching this classic. Never caught this before: Dracula met Johnathan Harker buying real estate, and Jerry and his familiar make their money flipping houses.
I'd really like to stop waking up at 4AM but I've been getting some good sketching time in while it's quiet. This morning it was all flipping through found photo archives on Flickr.
I am still absolutely flabbergasted by Hailee Steinfeld's performance in True Grit. 14 years old and going scene for scene, shot for shot with Bridges and Damon. She's punching so far above her weight she could sucker punch a silverback and make him think twice about swinging back.
It's Peter Cushing's birthday, so here's one I did a few years back; not bad for one of my earlier oils. Happy birthday, Peter!

I was reminded earlier of the great old Animation Celebration collections; these were little independent animation shorts that were packaged together and shown as a movie in select theatres, late 80s/early 90s. Beautiful wife and I watched this one on campus when we were in college. 1/2

We were packing up DVD's yesterday but I kept this one out to rewatch. Anybody asks me "what's your favorite comic book movie?" and American Splendor is the answer, hands down, no question, full stop. Harvey Pekar was a goddamn national treasure.
It's baby bun time of year I guess! I saw this little guy in our garden the other morning.

Beautiful wife and I do not have green thumbs but we've managed to keep this cactus alive for nearly 30 years by leaving it the fuck alone. It rewards us with these:
