A slightly different sky view, from a beautifully clear winter's day where the moon was visible.
Part of why I moved back to the mountains is the sky. A couple of dodgy phone photos of the sunset sliding into dusk from earlier tonight.
It's finally camellia blossoming season and I knew we had one camellia bush but turns out we have two. So I will begin my compulsive photographing of the flowers as they appear.
The fuck-off ginormous weeding job I've been doing very slowly (90 mins at a time) over the last few months is done! Now it's just maintenance until it's warm enough to plant ground cover to try & fuck off the weeds & grasses. I think I removed about 3 green bins' worth of scrubby grasses & weeds.
I have been slowly weeding a very large, sloped series of stepped garden beds out the front of our place. Over time, a magpie has taken to hanging out with me, taking advantage of the turned earth to grab some wriggly snacks. Recently, they've begun singing at me/nagging me for more snacks.
I don't foodpost much, but I got gripped by a dinner idea & it turned out very tasty. Late-night style tofu kebab/yeeros/gyros & chips. The kebab marinade I made for the tofu worked so well, I'm chuffed. Nice to know that my recipe development skills are still kicking around. Sometimes 😆
A lovely person from my stand-up course brought one of these with him to the venue for me to use if I needed a heat pack for my pain (I did). My lovely housemate found & bought ones for herself, her partner & me. It is helping manage my FUCKING UNREASONABLE pain without having to use the microwave.
Stupidly high pain day across the board - hands, back, hips, legs neck, soul - but I did some transplanting of successfully grown seedlings (we have a covered area that essentially acts as a greenhouse, which is amazing given how cold it gets in the mountains.
A clip from my recent standup set, in the Trans Christian Andersen & Friends new trans & queer comics showcase, as part of the Sydney Comedy Festival. (I will be telling people I performed at the Sydney Comedy Festival for the foreseeable future.)
Me doing my set, with my necessary accessories: walking stick and mask.
For anyone in Sydney & who's interested in a night (or two) of stand up comedy from up & coming trans, gender diverse, queer comedians, do I have the show for you! May 14/15, Enmore Theatre. I'll be there, giving it my best just-under-five-minutes shot! www.sydneycomedyfest.com.au/event/trans-...
I made this high-waisted-skirt-with-straps thingy over the last few days & am very happy with how it turned out. Photos are after going to a comedy show & meeting the costume designer of a TV show I adore. (And before realising we might run in adjacent social circles 🤣)
Feeling cute and very ✨gender✨, won't delete later. (Turning 50 in 5 months, looking good while I do it). (Yeah, I really think I'm fabulous the first few days after a haircut).
Spent almost 5 hours today with my hairdresser making magic, 39 weeks after the last time he made magic with my (now hilariously long) hair.
This is what I made. Have piled my plate high because I haven't eaten anything for 12ish hours, and hopefully I'll eat some of it. Vegan KFC-esque meal: mash, chips, roasted Brussels sprouts, shredded seitan, Brussels sprouts coleslaw & gravy.
To celebrate getting the flat into some sort of state for an inspection, I made an overly elaborate meal: seitan shreds, vegan buffalo cauliflower cheese, cos lettuce and peas braised with pomegranate molasses, and gravy (in the Moomin mug).
Despite being still quite knackered from yesterday, went for a Very Small Walk with a friend of mine this morning. There was more lying around in a park than there was walking, & I've spent the last few hours feeling very sore & tired, but being outside was nice.
Got this email today even though I had preemptively turned Gemini off because FUCK THAT SHIT. Needed to recheck settings everywhere, recommend you do the same.
Washed my hair (which I need to get done - the sides need a shave and the colour desperately needs to get refreshed) and the fringe air-dried into these silly flicks and I like my shiny soft clean hair.
