Converted my old desk to a floor desk and it is changing my life! I can actually sit at it for some time everyday now. And I can stare at the birds :>

On the desk are a laptop, a few journals, pens, and a drawing board propped up at an angle with various stationery supplies stacked on it.

For anyone curious about how I made this desk; the wooden top is from a local wood supply store. It’s butcher block, 1.5” thick, super sturdy, and is easy to clean (it is meant for kitchens). Most places will cut it for you. For the legs, I got steel furniture feet. There are a few different height options for these usually, mine are 14” (most steel options will also be rated 300-500 lbs and suitable for a desk!). My desk spans about 5’, with just corner supports, and does not bow. 10/10 would recommend.

Also highly recommend getting a 2” gym mat for sitting, if you are a person who struggles with sitting in “normal” positions/in chairs and finds floor cushions too unstable. 100/10

I have a few WIPs that I’ve been anxious to get back to, but big shifts in my routine (/pos) in the last few months have made it harder to work on art. I’m not beating myself up about it, but I wish I was more settled so I could do more. Soon 🌱 “My room,” which is really my world in a lot of ways.

The drawing is incomplete and partially rendered in light greens and blues, with some lighter areas. The room is furnished with a built-in desk, bookshelf, bed, and seating area along the edges with two large globe lights hanging from the ceiling. All of this is just sketched in, and is a negotiation between my real, and my more idealized, room.

Large trees, and larger than life mushrooms, a dandelion in seed, and a few birds are drawn next to and overlapping the room, almost as if they are taking it over and equally important to the room itself.

The fluffy seed of a floss silk tree (Ceiba speciosa). So many scattered everywhere! This tree is native to subtropical South America, and the cotton-like fibers around the seed help it move through the air and have often been used for stuffing.

Thankful to be so easily inspired and excited by nature, because days like yesterday give me so much life. The last months have been some of the best I’ve had in years, maybe ever. My heart feels impossibly full❣️2026 is already off to a great start, looking forward to more adventures and lifers.

For my holiday card this year, I attempted lino printing for the first time since high school. I’ve been wanting to try out more traditional art media, and this was so fun!! I learned a lot, and I’m excited to test out more ideas. 🍁
