First tattoo

So... a tattoo of an ash leaf inside of the Delta symbol with a small gap at the top.

The leaf is from an Ash tree. In Nordic and a few other religions they believe the tree of life to be an ash tree.

The alternating veins on the leaf remind me of a ladder I can climb to change and strive to be a better person. As well as how easy it is to backslide if you're not fighting your way up.

The triangle is supposed to be the symbol Delta, which stands for change. I left it open as a way to represent that change is constant and even the walls we build up (thicker side of the Delta facing forward) won't stay in place forever.

The leaf is cut off because we never really get the full picture of anything / anyone; i.e., there's always more than what appears on the surface.

The coloration is from an image I found depicting biomimicry or the idea of living more inline with nature and coexisting as opposed to defining ourselves by how we're separate from it. Which also ties into the triangle in that how you change your perspective changes how you think / what questions you ask determine what answers you'll find.

The tattoo artist added the black line in the center of the leaf to draw the eye but to also represent that even as we're striving upward / forward we'll still slip back into darkness / struggle and that it's a constant battle. And also that if you're surrounded by darkness that means that you are the light.

Lol after seeing it I joked that he just filled in my freckles.

But yeah, I really like it.
