Hiking in PA this week we came across what looks like attempts to redirect a stream. Logs secured by rebar lined the stream, and this kind of upstream-facing V occurred in a few places. I assume it’s to help direct the water as it drops down?

A small forest stream passes between bank-bolstering logs and two angled together in a V, dropping slightly into a shallow pool before ambling on again. Fallen leaves litter the forest floor.
