BTU340 members rallied today in front of the Baltimore City Public Schools admin bldg to voice concerns over insulting compensation and healthcare proposals made by the District during negotiations: 0% wage increases + higher healthcare premiums-- effectively a pay cut for workers. @aft.org
AFT Maryland President Kenya Campbell was in Annapolis today for a meeting with other union leaders, when Governor Wes Moore @govwesmoore.bsky.social pulled her aside to offer her a Governor's Citation for her work and efforts in the State of Maryland. Congratulations, Kenya!
Represented for the first time at convention were our newest organized unions, the United Academics of Maryland-Community Colleges (UAMD-CC) and the University of Maryland Resident and Fellow Alliance (UMRFA).
Kenya joins the 43-member national body that helps lead our 1.875 million-member union alongside President Randi Weingarten @rweingarten.bsky.social, Secretary-Treasurer Fedrick C. Ingram, and Executive Vice President Evelyn DeJesus.

GREAT NEWS! The MD General Assembly has passed legislation, which now heads to the Governor’s desk, extending collective bargaining rights to the vast majority of non-tenure track faculty – including full-time, part-time/adjunct faculty – at Maryland's four-year public universities.
