A Mere Solicitor
@ameresolicitor
They / Them Just a lawyer, cross about injustice and the world burning. Typos, terrible jokes, and pointing out the law. Anon as thoughts my own.
Those “unforced errors” have led to the death of children. Which Starmer’s government then commissioned a cover up to hide. Fury isn’t a disproportionate reaction to that. He’s blocked everyone who pointed that out though…
Can I nominate the “disappearing likes” conspiracy theory? A particularly egregious example attached for reference:
This is art: Literally the Racist in Greg’s Meme redone. Thanks @cuw.bsky.social.
Thank you (Also with ALT text because I’m on a device which can automate it.)
X banned the word “cis” while permitting transphobia and the Guardian headline was pretty much: “Behold the field in which I grow my fucks. Lay thine eyes upon it and see that it is barren.” Which is why solidarity is the answer. No hate is acceptable. This racism stinks. Oh, and this:
They’ve repeatedly used the Côte d'Ivoire flag and yesterday’s monstrosity said “FOR GOD AND ULSTER”. I’m not saying that no Catholic person was involved in making this, but those are very strong indications that there weren’t many and they weren’t the actual audience for it:
That guy looks really familiar. Like this guy who fought against s.28 and helped found the LGBTQIA+ rights movement in the U.K but time shifted?
I have never supported anyone in this list of Far Right Agitators. I have never worn their merch. I have never offered them legal support. I have never pushed apologies for exposing their links to the far right in insufficiently clear language. JK Rowling can’t say the same…
Ellie Chowns has signed the EDM. She didn’t speak up at the minister’s statement but needs credit for this:
Another case in point, from one of the MPs standing up for trans people’s rights in Parliament:
I went and checked; this is clearly a joke. The other posts seem (justifiably) angry about a photo of a trans woman from a fashion shoot being labeled “adult” unreasonably.
He’s deleted the original and reposted: bsky.app/profile/davi...
Round two? Is this more or less pathetic than having your own graphic made up to be extra exclusionary and then saying this? For everyone? Really, eye? bsky.app/profile/davi...
This lie only works if you’re racist and mostly know other racists. If you’re part of a multicultural community you see the subtle evil of racism every single day* and decent people respond with “fuck that shit”. *Some days it’s overt.
The only Pratchett at risk of being lost to history is the computer games. The books are fabulous. Someday, someone will live-action the Bromeliad trilogy and everyone will cheer and clap.
Well, I’ve read that. I can’t see any reason to donate any money for bland empty statements which take that long.
12. Disabled quote posts so I can’t directly link to @kateosbornemp.bsky.social’s post but she goes appropriately hard:
(Addendum, not part of the thread: @zackpolanski.bsky.social did retweet this but hasn’t said anything directly.)
The irony of someone (correctly) pointing out that there’s no acceptable racism… …while spewing transphobia. So close to getting it and yet missing the obvious:
You’re right. Here’s the other one. By making this an antisemitic conspiracy you actually excuse the British government’s role in supporting genocide, which somehow makes it worse:
There were very antisemitic banners at both marches. They’re not okay, whoever is waving them.
This is provably true. Eg: Ivory Bangle Lady who lived here in the 4th century AD. She predates Angles, Saxons and Normans…
This Labour Party have been far more focused and targeted in attacking the Green Party than Reform or the Tories. Yet when their own internal shenanigans leave them in a tricky situation, who do they feel entitled to help from?
I cannot find a proper report on the case yet but the golden rule is that GC transphobes lie. We need the full judgment on this:
