Took some of the fam to DC this week. The reflecting pool was being drained and smells like shit. The National Mall is still fenced off. National Guard everywhere looking bored.
According to a Jeri Shepherd email on 6/15, 9 authors agreed to continue with the anthology and only 2 actually asked to have the book cancelled. And they will offer to publish the stories again outside of Gen Con. 14/
After the backlash, they worked with Maurice to generate a new contract that needed to be re-signed by all authors, or the 1000 copies already produced was going to be destroyed. Maurice did not have the anthology pulled (as Jason stated as fact), but he did force them to issue a new contract. 13/

Figured I'd bump this once since it has been a month, and I'm still (not really) surprised that there has been not a single comment on this apology by SFWA that I can find. I guess people are really worried that they might upset the wrong people, er... person.
It got a ton of attention and discussion back then. Resurfacing it doesn't somehow make it true all of a sudden.
