Download this app to learn how to make the big bucks...which apparently requires having your right hand attached to your left arm.

The icon for an iOS app called "Breadwinner Academy" which is an Education app with a 5.0 rating. The icon is an obviously AI-generated muscular left arm, curled and holding a torch and a $100 bill. It's unclear how the bill is being held, actually, because it appears to be just partially behind the hand holding the torch, and also, the hand is clearly a right hand, despite the fact that we're seeing a left shoulder.

Correct; on Chrome proper, you get an install prompt (which devs can customize, to some degree). The install option is also right there in the menu when you first open it. Admittedly it's a little far down the list, but it's not buried multiple levels deep or under "share."

Just finished 100%ing Balatro for the second time (Switch 2 version and Switch 1 version). AMA.

Do we throw away our children’s scribbles because they suck? No, we post them on the fridge proudly, because that’s their shitty drawing, that’s their attempt at expressing themselves in this tumultuous world. These cringeworthy words are my cringeworthy words. Your awkward electronic music in Garageband is yours. The quality is not the point. The effort is the point. The effort to achieve some level of quality, some level of resonance in someone else’s heart and mind — that is what’s so embarrassingly, wonderfully, woefully human.

Lots of eye-popping takeaways in this report, but this one hit me the hardest.

AI summary: while both are globally iconic forces capable of belting out a legendary roar, Idina Menzel and the Loch Ness Monster are definitively different entities.

An AI-generated list of reasons Idina Menzel is not the Loch Ness Monster, culminating with: "The 'Adele Dazeem' factor: if Idina Menzel were the Loch Ness Monster, John Travolta almost certainly should have correctly introduced her as 'Nessie' at the Oscars."

This is one of many reasons I firmly refuse to believe LLMs represent actual intelligence. Intelligence makes mistakes, obviously. But it learns from first principles and is able to apply and build on those to reason through problems. Clearly nothing of the sort is going on here.

I asked Gemini how many J's are in Joshua. It confidently replied:

This post is an absolute banger.

A good architect’s most important skill isn’t designing systems. It’s knowing which systems not to build. It’s pushing back on complexity. It’s asking “why?” five times until the actual requirement emerges from the aspirational nonsense. It’s telling the CTO that their conference-inspired idea is a terrible fit for the team they actually have.

Claude will never do this. It’s trained to be helpful. Helpful means agreeable. Agreeable means you get an attaboy and a Jenga tower that passes for architecture.

Here’s what the AI-designed architecture looks like in practice.

It’s technically sound. The components make sense in isolation. The patterns are recognisable — event-driven here, CQRS there, a service mesh because why not. It looks like something a senior architect would produce. It passes the squint test.

But it wasn’t designed for your team. It wasn’t designed for your constraints. It wasn’t designed for the boring reality of your production environment — the VPC lockdowns, the legacy integrations, the team that’s never operated Kubernetes in production, the compliance requirements that mean half the managed services are off-limits.

It was designed for the median of everything Claude has seen. A generic best practice for a generic problem at a generic company. Which is to say, it was designed for nobody.
