I don’t just write about infrastructure: I want to help build it. Public systems, trust, delivery. EN/FR
Oh and before I forget: amazing self-own to say you like it in Europe when Ottawa has literally its main station... way closer to the core than even Paris. Anyway.
Making support visible also means making the cost of the status quo visible. Building @go-alto.ca has been a rewarding exercise in turning complex ideas into tools people can actually use Please, take the time to explore your own cost of inaction: the numbers add up very quickly!
And since listening to people is not your forte, maybe reading is?...
I just love new beta day. And frankly, this first beta is way smoother than any release version of iOS26.
Hello, Montreal. Today is a new dawn for the @remgrandmtl.bsky.social with the (actual) opening of the Anse-à-l’Orme branch! 4 new stations, 14km of mostly elevated guideway.
Guys, be careful about the echo chamber... ... says the echo chamber.
The same drivers: "I couldnt see you!" We need some very strict rules about what is an "acceptable" (very generous choice of word) way to mount a phone on a "hands-free" holder. The number of times I see drivers that have most of the FOV filled with the phones, but hey, they aren't touching it!
From some rails fans to others! See you on the REM! @milesintransit.com @railfans.ca @remgrandmtl.bsky.social
To improve everyone’s moral, can I interest you in some fluffy agents of chaos?
FACT: Amtrak's Cascades colour scheme slaps. A great execution of brand, identity and recalled not just outside, but inside too. Bravo.
People lined up to visit… a closed train station. Not because it was new. Because, for once, they were invited in. If we want people to care about public systems, we need to build toward inclusion, not just completion. New post: open.substack.com/pub/dbelleri... #infrastructure #transit
Coming soon(ish) to a @railfans.ca near you! This might be my favourite project to work on every year, and this time, it is a MASSIVE one! For reference, the 2023 and 2022 ones were 16 minutes each... *Placeholder thumbnail and title.
Believe it or not, but this fella is responsible for 95% of all fare evasion in Ottawa. Good thing he doesn't know how to read a schedule though, for now...
Exploring Lines 2 and 4 of the O-Train tonight! I ran into some people who shared their experiences so far, and I am very happy to report they are very positive! Comfortable ride, great trains, nice to have this corridor again! If you haven’t already, take the time to go check it out!
An O-Train kinda week! So happy to FINALLY be able to be onboard Line 2 and 4 after many years of waiting. The Stadler FLIRT are a massive upgrade for Ottawa’s North-South line. Smooth, comfortable, high capacity. Oh, and SCREENS.
The best sales pitch for the Steam Deck is trying a ROG Ally for 24 hours. The hardware is fine, Windows isn’t.
Third party oversight was provided throughout the process to review all aspects of operations, systems and maintenance to ensure proper performance. Richard, AECOM, SENER Inc, AW Hooker were involved in different manners.
We expect to get an extensive overview of the steps so far and how OC Transpo is ready to support the launch.
Goodbye New York City ✌️ Always a treat to check out your iconic terminals and ride Metro North.
Bermuda’s buses and ferries are fascinating. Buses run every 15 minutes between St-Georges and Hamilton, and ferries connect the Royal Dockyard to Hamilton hourly. Most buses are electric! Quite a ride on those narrow roads!
