Furthermore, the People who create and proliferate these models hate life itself. Pointing at a chat window that displays "I have anxiety" and claiming the program behind it has reached a certain degree of cognitive agency, doesn't demonstrate the abilities of their machines, but how little they think of what humans, and any other living organism on this planet is actually capable of.

They don't elevate their chatbots, they are trying to reduce us all to such a degree that there's no apparent difference.

Following the 1996 liquidation of Escom, one of Amiga's predecessors in interest, the "Commodore" and "C=" trademarks followed a separate path from the other assets. Tulip Computers acquired the trademarks and used them for Commodore-branded PCs. Subsequent transfers brought the trademarks to the present Commodore company. In August 1984, Commodore and Amiga brought their efforts together under Commodore-Amiga, Inc., a name Amiga Corporation still uses as a registered DBA. Forty-two years later, the circle is closing: apart from the "Commodore" and "C=" marks, the principal rights and assets of the Commodore and Amiga eras rest with Amiga.

Double-A is the tier of gaming below triple-A, and above the tier I've never heard anyone call "single-A" but refer to as "indie". It's the tier of game made by a team of fewer than, say, 70 people - it's not clearly defined - and working within more apparent budgetary constraints. They're games that can't be everything to everyone, in other words, so they're usually shorter and more focused, and arguably more fun.

Shoot a Wall of Light from a distance, and it’ll flare briefly, reacting to the bolt and swallowing it whole. If that shot should coincide with the instant a guard trundles through the gap, then they’ll be incinerated along with it. From an assassin’s perspective, it’s a clean kill, carried out from a distance and leaving no trace.

"Why is the game industry still struggling?"

This question came from one of my colleagues here at Informa Festivals during a December 2025 offsite. My coworker here was still new to the ins and outs of the game industry. I proceeded to monologue for 10 minutes about inflation, AI-driven memory shortages, boom-or-bust development cycles—all the very-real conditions that have harmed our industry.

But what I wanted to say was "a group of fewer than 1,000 people made a series of horrible decisions, and the whole industry is paying for it."

I think - and I'm aware I might get pelters for this, but bear with me if you can - the up front price alone is ultimately fine. There is a value for money question in video games that few other mediums have to wrestle with. It's annoying, and in particular it can confuse the conversation when it comes to actual criticism - you can't talk about the merits of 'art' with any seriousness if you're doing the talking in terms of 'value'; these are two distinct concepts - but at times it's also very much necessary to address it.

These are consumer goods as well as creative works, which, in a way, is the medium's blessing and curse in one.

If Commodore can sell around 10,000 units, the Callback 8020 could become a surprisingly effective cash generator. If the margin is strong, it could help fund the bigger work: rights, engineering, support, future computers and perhaps one day a serious move around the Amiga legacy
