I knew this shit was bad, but laying it all out in one place with all the interconnected risk vectors… hoo boy.

Just a few things going a bit wrong could compound, all at once, into a cataclysm. To wit: Qatari and Saudi money dries up.
Sustained high oil and natural-gas prices drive up the costs of manufacturing chips and running data centers. Already cash-strapped hyperscalers struggle to make lease payments on their data centers, while similarly strained private lenders suffer as all of the Al bonds become deadweight. Tech valuations fall, taking public markets with them; private-equity firms have to sell and torch their assets, putting intense stress on the institutional investors and banks. The rest of the economy, drained of investment because everything was poured into data centers for years, is already weak.
Unemployment goes up, as do interest rates.
"Bubbles pop. That's the system," Lipton said. "What isn't supposed to happen is that it takes down the whole financial system. But the concern here is that Al investment isn't confined and may spread to the whole economy."

So, yea, that’s the thing. Even the best, most successful application of this shit doesn’t seem to require massive data centers burning infinite money and power. Paul here is actually proving the point he seems to think he disagrees with. This stuff is bullshit, at least financially.

Whichever cowardly, deplorable piece of shit on the WSJ editorial board wrote this disgusting, horrific lie… put you fucking name on it and come say it to my face. Alex Pretti didn’t make a “mistake”, he didn’t “interfere” with ICE thugs. He broke no laws, only tried to help. Fuck you @wsj.com!

Pretti made a tragic mistake by interfering with
ICE agents, but that warranted arrest, not a death sentence. The agents may say they felt threatened, but it's worth noting the comments over the weekend by police around the country who say that this isn't how they conduct law enforcement.

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent who fatally shot a 37-year-old woman in Minneapolis on Jan. 7 is Jonathan Ross, the same officer who was dragged and injured by a fleeing driver in a separate incident last year, according to a person with knowledge of the case and verified by court documents.
