Pictures from the Chattanooga Lookouts last night, where I saw less than an inning before it started coming down like a Tennessee rain and the game was suspended due to weather. Not a great start to my trip. Huntsville City FC tonight with the @stadiumjourney.bsky.social folks.
Every flight into DCA in the last hour and a half was held at origin or diverted due to ”VIP activity” except a JetBlue flight from the airport Trump stuck his name onto that was allowed to land. Was a legit VIP actually flying JetBlue? Or did Trump make an exception to benefit one of his buddies?
I am very confused as to the political persuasions of the owner of this license plate.
Nice time at the Wilson Warbirds game last night despite a rain delay of an hour and 15 minutes. Gorgeous new ballpark, but none of the heart that Fleming Stadium had. RIP to the Wilson Tobs.
First and probably only time I’ve got all three C-SPAN networks on multiview. #America250
Playing "America The Beautiful" on electric guitars is oddly subversive for a MAGA rally, even if it's disguised as 4th of July celebrations.
Last night at Hub City FC in Hagerstown, Maryland, I saw the Black Roses fall 2-1 to District Elite FC in some NPSL action. But I did try my first ever dirty soda. Good crowds, great matches experience. I was very impressed.
Checking out the @gosquirrels.bsky.social at CarMax Park. First trip here, much better than the old park.
Having Jewish Heritage Night and all-you-can-eat pulled pork at the same home game is certainly an interesting choice from the Somerset Patriots.
Eating really burnt popcorn with fire extinguisher chemicals on it - #RiskyOrNot? @benchapmanncsu.bsky.social @bugcounter.bsky.social notalwaysright.com/liquid-butte...
Checking out UConn softball on the road at Georgetown (actually on the campus of George Washington since the Hoyas don’t have an on-campus softball field.)
Donated $18.96 plus fees to the #CharitiBundiBowl for the birth year of my great-grandma, Pauline Redlich, who brought over hundreds of Jewish refugees during the Holocaust by signing affidavits of support for all of them with the same $10,000. @newap-georgia.bsky.social @hollyanderson.bsky.social
Protect Trans Kids. Support refugees. What could be better than doing both at the same time? One dollar for every page in Sonia Sotomayor's fiery dissent in United States v. Skrmetti.
Drinking a bottle of wine that has been stolen, stuffed in the thief’s trousers, retrieved, and sold - #RiskyOrNot? @benchapmanncsu.bsky.social @bugcounter.bsky.social notalwaysright.com/un-wine-ding...
“Voting for Kamala Harris is condoning war crimes. I don’t care me staying home and not bothering to vote gets Trump elected. It can’t possibly lead to any more war crimes than are already happening.” Yeah, how’s that working out now?
By implication of this morning’s Supreme Court ruling, Dr. Nick’s medical advice is now protected by the First Amendment and they can’t take his medical license away.
A second runner-up and an honorable mention for me in this week's Invitational, the humor contest unjustly banished from the Washington Post to Substack. This week's theme was to use some of the word's in Trump's State of the Union to come up with a new quote he might have said.
Trump: “Democrats want open borders” Democrats: “Nobody’s saying open borders.” Me:
Checking out Radford Highlanders basketball on a Thursday night. Not much of a crowd and it’s a shame because this is a nice setup here.
Remember that drunk and belligerent kid at UConn who went viral for angrily demanding jalapeño bacon mac and cheese? He's in the Epstein Files. Not for anything new, but because Epstein's buddy sent him the story. It includes this quote, which also applies to many other people in the Files.
Really creepy Fiesta Bowl mascot seen at the 1997 parade (December version). @sickoscommittee.org
Checking out the Fall Stars game last night with folks from @stadiumjourney.bsky.social and the Ballpark Chasers Facebook group. Great experience. Top prospects, six minor league mascots, fantastic stadium, great crowd of true baseball fans. One of the best baseball experiences I have ever had.
