@hawksland
CEnv furious about anthropogenic Climate Change; passionate about wildlife, regeneration, soils and habitats. Love gardening. Hacked off with Labour sacking its environmental pledges, sounding & acting like Tories. Hate Farage & his nasty politics
Russians target civilians. Lavrov claimed “we do not target civilian Targets”. Why refer to civilians as targets if that is not what Russia regards them as. Lavrov speaks perfect English, this was no slip of the tongue.
Finally had time to read Jonty Blooms facts & figures about Brexit putting all UK where it is now, and it’s made my blood boil all over again
In Barnsley area for example this may go some way explaining why. Low income, poor education in particular
I’ve been anxious at the speed of news change from 1 minute to next, from channel to radio to YouTube. I’ve felt since Brexit debate & 2016 onward journalists were enjoying the washing machine churn, the gossip & their own publicity, too much. I want fact not rumour. This paragraph sums it up nicely👇
What happened to the patient opt out of medical data sharing? People have a great mistrust of private organisations than they do public ones. Sudlow REvie’s 2024 discussed this. zenodo.org/records/1335...
Theory. Scottish constituencies bordering Eng have voted Conservative in Nat elections because many English live there in retirement as housing’s cheaper. The area is rural. They believe they’re sort of gentry. They vote Tory cos like my mother, they think it gives higher Class status. I’m Eng. btw.
National Bureau of Economic Research in 2025 advised 2016-2025, Brexit reduced UK GDP by 6% to 8%, the impact more noticeable from 2021. Investment down by between 12% and 18%, employment by 3% to 4%, productivity by 3% to 4%. Equivalent cost £2k p/a per person.
I thought the majority of Scotland had below average rainfall this winter.
A couple of the reviews on Amazon.co.uk . Another thought it would be better as a pamphlet of 10,000 words.
Hateful woman. Watched Lewis Goodall at CPAC. She spouted hate, blamed Muslims, country taken over by Islamists. Vile. There must be some mechanism whereby this woman can be stripped of her UK taxpayer funded Public Duty scheme expenses and her pension.
I’d say Israel & US however Iran doesn’t have a glowing record with its people, whatever may constitute an ordinary person as referred to. What’s good adjective to describe the majority of people? People aren’t Ordinary, indeed ordinary could be seen as an insulting description.
In his impeachment trial, Schiff, lead impeachment manager, described him as a man without character, truth matters little, right matters even less & decency matters not at all.
@professorgerdes.bsky.social watching “Iran triggers a NATO split”. Refers to looking at Ukraine from Trump perspective and “why are we spending all these resources, why are we the ones paying for this when rest of world is benefitting”. EU states purchase equipment from USA. Below from Statista.
Sloppy wording in the piece irritates me. @zackpolanski.bsky.social has shown how climate change/environmental issues are & always have been woven through UK life. He’s explained to people what hadn’t been made clear before. Green Party has not “become” something it wasn't before.
Bessent wants strong $ but US not competitive. 🇨🇳 , 🇧🇷 & 🇮🇳 vastly reducing US Treasury holdings, Europe is reducing. What about UK, the largest holder of US debt?
I’m concerned, all I hear around my area of South Lanarkshire is Reform, Reform, Reform and people repeating lies fed by friends of friends or social media. Received this through post, sent response countering every point.
Don’t need to do anything. I am Waspi aged woman and I knew. Findings-Ombudsman found many women did not receive or READ or REMEMBER the letters sent. Many women FELT they hadn’t adequately been informed” & “only 1 in 4 REMEMBER receiving a letter”
NATO is a defence alliance and behaves diplomatically behind the scenes. What NATO never envisaged handling was the largest member having Trump. Green website suggests war arising from insecurity, poverty or climate change. That analysis does not apply to Putin or Trump. June 25 Chowns said 👇
Got this through the post this morning from Reform, managed to calm down by venting my spleen in a carefully crafted response.
I would have been happier not to see this. 1. illegitimate regime doesn’t equate to ok forced removal by another state 2. No facts could turn this illegal invasion by USA legal. Better to have said I have grave concerns about these actions irrespective of fact Maduro’s regime is illegitimate.
in terms of environmental schemes, I wonder how much is altruism and how much the public purse. For 2024, funded agri environment £314,100 to Dyson Farming Ltd
Uk reason for reluctance to do so is ridiculous, it’s depriving the country of increased tax & NI. Many countries allow asylum seekers to work Australia, Canada, Sweden, Portugal & others. UK argument does not stand up.
Nvidia sales are up but it’s circular finance delivering that. Bloomberg graphic shows. It surely remains a bubble?
