In a few weeks the tiny flooff will look like this - a beautiful black redstart. The daddy of the current brood goes to bed at 10pm. We're usually still in the yard, finishing our wine, when he comes to tell us he's tired and wants to roost (his favourite spot is near our table). We say goodnight

This tiny ball of grey flooff has just jumped from its nest, outside my front door. It looks way too young to me, but it's second to the sibling that jumped last night. (I popped that one back in to the nest bc mummy + daddy had gone to bed and bc predators. Happily it's been busy fledging today.)🐦‍⬛

Bona tarda, here's the news from my summer garden, week 4: Another week of incredible growth w pumpkins and courgettes now creating a canopy. Small courgettes are forming. Sunflowers are beginning to rise, and the beans are beginning to romp up their hazel poles. How is your garden?🌱

Is it the full moon rising? No, it's our first-ever apricot from our little tree. Isn't it a beauty? It's the only one this year! Perhaps next year there'll be enough to make jam.. #mountainlife #Pyrenees

Bona tarda, here's the summer garden halfway through week 3. We've seen incredible growth over the last week. The pumpkins are beginning to ramble; the courgettes are beginning to flower; tiny padron peppers are appearing; beans are climbing; tomatoes looking a bit triffid. How is your garden? 🌱🍅🫑

Bon dia, here's my summer garden about 2 weeks in. The curved bed at the front is the tomatoes which we planted more like 3 weeks ago. The big patch of earth is full of courgettes, pumpkins and beans. And sunflowers, and rambling tomatoes. Beyond is the potato bed. Then onions, strawberries. 🌱😍

I now know what has been nibbling at the red orache in the garden! Found 2 leverets in the garden this afternoon. They must be nearly weaned. They are so adorable! We've known for a while we have a homestead hare. Now we understand why. #mountainlife #CatalanPyrenees

I opened the front door this morning to find 3 baby wrens fledging in the passage. Whirring little wings and slightly madcap baby flights, though at the same time impressive acrobàtics: they can hang upside down on beams. Here is one on the porch door (apols for pic quality). Adorable!
