this is said chicken soup recipe btw use this power wisely.

SOUP IS MADE FOR STOCK POT PROPORTIONS IF YOU WANT TO MAKE LESS JUST, LIKE, USE YOUR NOGGIN’ AND ADJUST.

Pack of bone in chicken (preferably dark meat) (we usually get thigh+drumstick combos)

Carton of chicken broth

Carrots (about 4, or a whole bag of baby carrots if you wanna make your life easier)

Celery (two big stalks)

Onion (two yellow onions should suffice)

Turnip (2) (i like turnips so i go for three bc im a sicko)

Parsnip (just throw in the whole bag they dont come with a lot of these suckers)

2 packages of fresh dill (trust)

Garlic powder

Salt

Pepper

Cut up the carrots celery onion turnips parsnips any way you choose. It doesnt matter. Throw them in the pot. Throw the chicken in the pot. Pour the carton of broth in. cover with enough water to fill stock pot. Bring to a boil then let it simmer for like 2 hours. Pour in as much garlic powder as your heart desires. Salt and pepper to taste. Soup’s done when the chicken is done. Yes you have to eat around the bones but it’s worth it. We also like to make a thing of minute rice on the side to put in the soup.

“Least I got some wiggle room, eh?” Seren questioned, peering down at his chest, where a small shape that used to be a person sat bound by its arms by gold chain, spread eagle as it was held aloft by the necklace Seren wore.

“Got more than you, at least. We feeling more cooperative yet?”

Seren did his best to be subtle about boosting the sensitivity of his recording microphone in front of him, but the little thing was stubborn and, annoyingly, very perceptive. Two tiny eyes in a pea-sized face glared up at him with enough electric, spiteful vitriol that it could have powered most of the coast if it wasn’t coming from someone the size of a triple-A battery.

Not a peep out of it still. What a shame. It had a lovely voice, hence why it was here in the first place…

Well that, and it was threatening to overtake him in the charts. Couldn’t have that.

whateverrrr my yucky feelings aside: as you can see Someone is having a very normal time and very normal feelings about his giant piece of government equipment that definitely doesn't have a guy inside it

Nick knew people. He could smile and make smalltalk and be friendly, but these weren’t his friends. They were his bunkmates or his bosses or part of his squadron, not friends. Friends, he always had a little trouble with. Everyone knew him, but he took great pains to ensure they never knew him, and after the last person that knew him bit the dust with a whimper rather than the bang he deserved, Nick was content never being known again. No one could ever come close, no one could replace what they had together.

His grief was the only company he needed, and he was gonna keep poking and re-opening that nasty festering hole in his chest for the rest of his life until he was assigned FM-429.

FM-429 wasn’t a bandage over it, more like stuffing into the wound. Filled all the empty space with something pleasant and warm and inviting that Nick could forget about how much it hurt. How much he was still mourning. And yeah, the stuffing soaked up all the blood and pus which was all well and good but it ripped open his scabs every time he had to unlink. The void would always return as soon as the weight of the Mech’s bond was broken, leaving Nick itching and as eager as ever to return to it.

The hurt and the pleasure; the constant cycle. Nick should have been removed from his post the second the Mech whirred to life under his touch.

There’s a few scars on his hands, all of them old. Even the one that looks the most recent, the thin lines of careful handwriting that read “ XOXO ”. Nick had explained that one the other night, that he had given that to him. They did it to each other, tattoos made with needles dipped in pen ink when they were young. The ink had faded now, but the mark remained.

All these parts of himself that should be his own, now foreign. So many stories across his very body that he doesn’t know how to explain.

His reflection is familiar, but unfamiliar. The man looking back at him, he’s known him all his life–but he doesn’t remember all the times he’s looked in a mirror, he can barely recall how he looked growing up. What did this same man look like a year ago? Two years ago? A decade?

For the time being, only Nick knew that answer.
