I write books, mostly #kidlit. My next picture book is I'M SORRY FOR THE BAGEL BURPS: A YOM KIPPUR APOLOGY. He/him.
Christopher Nolan, call me. I'm putting together CD covers for your film soundtracks.
@pftompkins.bsky.social I hate to be one of those guys who @s you with an article I think you should see, but I felt this passage (from Jane Campion's remembrance of Sam Neill) deserved your attention. Apologies if I'm the one millionth person to send it to you.
I am super excited that my picture book about the artist Maurizio Cattelan has found a home at Phaidon, one of the world's great publishers of art books! And Sarah Matuszewski is the perfect illustrator; she's got the wild sense of humor that's essential if you're trying to capture Cattelan's work.
Victo Ngai’s art for QUEEN OF DAY is gorgeous. Bad news: you have to wait until January 12, 2027 to see it in full. Good news: you can feast your eyes on her cover today. #coverreveal #picturebook #queenofday #victongai #illustration #chessgame #childrensbooks #kidlit #bookstagram #newbookrelease
Here's Jason Kirschner's cover art for my next picture book, which comes out in September 2026. It makes me laugh every time I look at it! You can pre-order it at your local bookstore, or use one of the links here: www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/786426... #kidlit
I've played 133 escape rooms, and this may be my favorite thing out of any of them. It's an accessibility panel that gives players direct control over sound volume and flashing lights. (Plus it directs them to other accessibility options elsewhere in the room.) Bravo to 60 Out Hollywood!
Your daily dose of irony: this click-baity headline on why you should stop chasing views.
I just read MAEVE MULVANEY HAS HAD ENOUGH by @kellyamangan.bsky.social and it's a strong recommend. All the characters are nuanced and well observed, but I want to particularly single out the MC's relationship with her parents. It's very hard to get a realistic parent-child relationship in MG...
This book is based on a time when I was a jerk to my big brother on the holiest day of the Jewish year. If I'm lucky, I will eventually get Jason Kirschner to illustrate ALL my embarrassing childhood memories.
Nice try, Thames Water. Abbey Road is one of THE BEATLES' major works.
I've never seen a "Do Not Enter" sign that made me more eager to enter.
All I want in life is for concerned citizens to describe me as a Learned Dandy.
Want my feedback on your picture book, novel, or unusually long shopping list? I'm offering a critique of a work up to 1,000 words for The Artists Against Anti-Semitism auction. (There are other items involving less famous people, like Henry Winkler and Bruce Springsteen.) tinyurl.com/2h7s34c6
During a visit to Delphi, Greece, my daughter spotted Clippy’s ancient ancestor on this millenia-old vase. “Hey! It looks like you’re uttering an oracular prophecy. Would you like help?”
I second all the votes for Lloyd Alexander! I loved those as a kid, reread them as a grownup, and was relieved to discover they're just as wonderful as I remember. Also at the risk of being self-promotional-- Lloyd Alexander was a big influence on my kids' fantasy Hyacinth & The Secrets Beneath.
I love this post by Eliza Wheeler on the research she did for WHAT ROSA BROUGHT. Her attention to detail is astounding. #kidlit wheelerstudio.com/2024/07/08/b...
I hope putting a dreidel in space is just the first step on a decade-long multibillion-dollar NASA project to come up with more interesting rules for dreidel.

Hi! My third picture book WHAT ROSA BROUGHT comes out in November. It's the true story of my mom's experiences in Nazi-occupied Vienna. As you can imagine, it's a particularly personal book. I'd love to talk about it with any interested teachers or librarians.
