Played a great game of Baltic Empires with my local group today, I managed to sneak a national ambition win with Russia on round 5. Game is designed by Brian Asklev and forthcoming from @gmtgames.bsky.social! I'll have my copy at PunchedCon in May, although the game may be released by then.
We will soon be reprinting The British Way along with an expansion, Enemy of My Enemy, that covers the 1936 Arab revolt in Palestine and resistance to the Japanese in WW2 Malaya (mentioned in the exhibition). The exhibition runs until March, and I highly recommend visiting if you get a chance!
It ended with a section on the legacy of the conflicts and the attempts made by the British government to cover up abuses. When we published the British Way in 2023, I wrote that very few people in the UK were aware of this period of our history, and I'm glad some progress has been made since then.
I recently visited the Emergency Exits exhibition at the IWM, which focused on three of the four conflicts from our British Way boardgame multipack. It gave a great overview, and the style of presentation was very similar to Stephen's approach in the games, letting the events speak for themselves.
I stayed up way too late for the launch of the #mothership megagame #over/under last night. I immediately signed up to the teamsters union and accidentally started replicating my real-life political activities: joining a mutual aid collective, agitating internally, and scheming behind closed doors 😂
Just received this perfect not-Scully and not-Mulder from @crookeddice.bsky.social, I love them!
Won this beauty by @djackthompson.bsky.social in the PunchedCon raffle, looking forward to digging into it! Thanks also to @ospreygames.bsky.social for donating it and @jsbuckley.bsky.social for organising, it was a great weekend!
Tried this today, it's a great looking production and we had fun with 2 players, although I think it will be better with 3 or 4. There are a couple of gameplay things I am slightly unsure about, but I think they could easily be tweaked slightly after a few more plays.
I've just arrived back in Scotland after a fantastic two weeks in the US, including a whistle-stop tour of Nevada and Arizona, a week in New Mexico, then a few days in DC. In spite of everything I still love visiting the US, and more importantly spent some quality time with both family and friends.
I had a great time at @fortcircle.bsky.social's Circle DC convention this weekend, demoing several games and meeting up with people I only see once a year, but the highlight has to be getting brutally massacred in about 15 minutes in Psycho Raiders. Thanks @chaosgoat.bsky.social!
My partner and I are having a very productive festive season designing and testing new decks for @restorationgames.bsky.social's, including Silent Hill, Resident Evil, and X-Files! Something about the system just invites creativity, and it's hard to stop once you get starred!
Today I'm reviewing some of the final materials for @yoyoni.bsky.social's Chicago '68, and in my (perhaps biased) opinion I think it is looking absolutely fantastic! Yoni and our amazing artist John Biggs have put a huge amount of work into this production, and it's going to be a beautiful game.
