CA should also be doing state level procurement (see GA), rather than letting the counties handle it. This is basically a story about LA county taking forever to do anything and the state not being more aggressive in getting them in line.
It's also not the state doing the hiring, it's the counties and only some portion of their costs are reimbursed my Sacramento. Compare that to say CO (conducting all-mail voting since 2014) reimbursing the counties for a larger portion of costs while also providing state level training.

atm Metro is assuming 3-4 car trains of 72 ft so ~216-288ft. I guess very similar to the Honolulu Skyline cars?
Good point! I'll note that CA does appear to have some differences, opting for quarterly or annually over monthly inspections in several categories.

It will assuredly not be just that. The north south drive, I kid you not, is anywhere between 25 min and an hour depending on where you're going and what time. This is 4pm on a sunday and I'm being generous by avoiding the oscars mayhem going on in Hollywood.

As an aside, it really is so silly and stupid that California functionally makes this urban built form illegal. Everywhere from Santa Monica to Santa Cruz should look like some variation of this....you even got genuine historic preservation going on!

I grew up like 5 min away from where this is located and cracked up when the article was floating around, that is 100% the case here. "Bakery" is sort of a misnomer, we're talking about an actual industrial sized food manf. facility with a small retail store attached.

Yeah, the BoS increase explicitly triggers a shakeup to Metro's board, that Sacramento must sign off on. So, changes to the Metro board will happen but what exactly that looks like is still tbd. leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/codes_...
