The early evening light in my bedroom is often pretty excellent.

Warm sunlight falls right to left across a dark wood cabinet. The sunlight is broken up by shadow, both organic and industrial looking, and the sunlight falls across a few lengths of rope, in various red and brown tones, coiled neatly and hanging from a metal clip.

Face reveal, wrong answers only

A cropped still from the 1987 movie HELLRAISER, written & directed by Clive Barker: a humanoid figure in black leather, lit starkly from the top, whose face is a twisted eyeless mass of skin and scar tissue, and whose mouth is held open in a lipless bloody grin by thin wires stretching from the back of its head. The figure stands against a dirty brick wall, with black chains hanging from the ceiling. This is the Chatterer Cenobite, and absolutely my favourite character from the film.

On the sidewalk, three white plastic chairs stacked on top of each other. The topmost chair has collected water & dirt on the seat. The second chair has a purple cushion on the seat, only visible by the ties on the back post holding it in place. The third & bottommost chair is a mystery. The chairs are stacked beside a light post & in front of a boring grey minivan. The photo is rather monochromatic, which makes the purple of the cushion ties stand out.

Tattooed hands, one in focus & one a background blur, hold a length of beige jute rope, preparing to pull the rope tight against the ass of the standing body. The rope is caught in movement, but the texture of it against the skin is clear.
It is intimate, warm, close, anticipatory.
