Wheeeeeee! Murderbot time! It has been a long wait, but Martha Wells never disappoints. So excited!

Notification from my library that the hold I placed on the latest novel by Martha Wells is finally ready (after three months (!!!))

Embedded in the libray notification is an image of the book cover, featuring a humanoid-shaped, armored and visored figure. Apparently in micro gravity, in a vertical tunnel or conduit, they have one hand on a ladder. A starfield is visible through a port behind them.

A ladder in a tube implies there is usually gravity in the tube, so something has probably gone very badly wrong. If Murderbot is there, there is a strong chance someone is going to get some FO they didn't expect during the FA phase.

Not as apocalyptic as it *could* be, I suppose...

The picture was taken close to sunset, at Grand Haven, Michigan. The sun is low in the sky, about to drop below the tree line. It is much more red than usual, and the sky is a murky pinkish color. The Air Quality Index is 164, "unhealthy"

Grand Haven MI sunset says; "Trans Rights Are Human Rights"

Photo depicts streaky clouds at sunset. The colors are a mixture of blues and turquoise and pink and red, somewhat resembling a Trans pride flag. Sort of.

There is a layer of irony here, because Grand Haven is the heart of Ottawa County which is part of West Michigan's version of the Bible belt. Not exactly a bastion of inclusiveness. Ah well, the scenery is outstanding, even if the politics are strictly stone age...

The latest from @marthawells.com is *finally* at my public library (yay!) There is a long wait list (boo)... But, I am *on* that list (yay!)!!!

Can't wait to find out how they got into that situation. Most likely because one or more of their humans did something foolish and potentially life-threatening. (again)

Things are weird in the world today. Can't do much about it, but here's some cool clouds:

Late-breaking update: today's breakfast

Home cooked BaconEggnCheese bagel sandwich. Non-traditional use of pepper jack cheese and a Hawaiian Bread bagel. Oh well, I do what I can.

Pictured: a toasted bagel, with a slice of cheese, then a layer of bacon, topped with some scrambled eggs, then another slice of cheese below the bagel top to sort of glue everything together. The sandwich sits on a red glazed stoneware plate. There is nothing else on the plate but the sandwich.

The plate rests on a marble (?) countertop behind which is a dining table (out of focus) and windows overlooking a deck, with some hills in the far background (very blurry).

Initial testing indicates the answer is "yes it waffles", but further experiments are obviously required. For science, of course.

The same donut, now waffled. There are the traditional waffle squares pressed into the donut, but the glaze has melted and become crispy. The glaze in the squares has soaked into the pastry from both sides, resulting in a thin layer of crispy sweet dough.

Most of those great numbers were me, buying these:

A bag of Kirkland branded Caramel S'more Clusters. They are like Turtles candy, but graham cracker pieces instead of pecans. And with mini-marshmallows added.

The caramel is approximately 105% butter

Curtis Sliwa-assed streetlight

Another streetlight photo, taken some days later than the picture in the quoted post. The ground is covered in snow, and the sky is a deep blue with fluffy white clouds.

Again, the snow has piled up on the top of the streetlight. This time, the snow has half melted and sort of droops down on one side. It has the appearance, somewhat, of a white beret hat.

I don't know why a streetlight would want to look like it's wearing some kind of beret, but at least it's a white one, not a red one. Looking at you, Curtis Sliwa, you dork-ass mfr...

This is the time of year when the streetlights don jaunty little caps.

A cylindrical streetlight with a round layer of snow atop. The background shows various snow covered trees and shrubs with mounds of snow where the plows cleared the road. There are some wooden stakes driven into the ground to mark the edges so the plow driver knows where the road is.

There might be 3 or 4 inches of snow on the metal disk that tops the glass cylinder of the streetlight. When the snow falls without much wind, it tends to stay in a straight-sided pile. The effect is similar to a hat...

Who... TF! ...put their damned cookies in the sewing tin? Utterly damn rude, you ask me!

A round tin container, holding the stereotypical assortment of "Danish butter cookies", each flavor of cookie stacked in a fluted paper cup.

The tin *should* contain buttons, sewing needles, and small bobbins of thread. Who put cookies into the sewing tin is unknown- however! ...being the nice person that I am, I will do my very best to remove them.
