I think the argument is: don’t build all of the apartments literally right along the stroad, you can also build apartments on the other side of the block and be one block away from transit and not on the busy road. In the photo: red = apartments allowed currently, blue = apartments should be allowed

FWIW the actual self-certification concept was totally noncontroversial, but we spent like 45 mins in our committee meeting debating plumbing codes, haha. Tl;dr uniform plumbing code likely overestimates peak water use, which therefore results in unnecessary (and very costly) water service upgrades.

I want my unborn children to be able to ride the light rail from Issaquah before they graduate from college. And I want to be able to ride light rail from the Issaquah troll to the Ballard troll! We need TOD (troll oriented development)!

I’m unreasonably excited to ride trailhead direct tomorrow FROM Issaquah TO Seattle for the Lake WA Blvd celebration!! 🥳 (it’s actually the most direct route to get from Issaquah to Judkins Park station lol, and has better frequency than the 554 on weekends!)

In Sydney there are plenty of examples of beautiful historic buildings next to giant skyscrapers. It’s pretty cool. This street is also fully car free (light rail only!!)

As an Issaquah city councilmember, I would also like to emphasize my support for lower-cost alignment and station design, no matter what shape that may take. I would be especially supportive of any light rail station design that allows for integration with our historic trolley line into Olde Town!
