I wasted 5 minutes debugging an issue that was actually just game systems interacting correctly - skill A was applying buff B, which was being consumed when it saw skill A finish being used, so it looked like the buff was failing to apply The solution was to filter the skills the buff cared about

I love domain specific languages. It takes me about an hour to add a new playable character with her own abilities and interlocking status effects, including the time I spend cropping placeholder images in Affinity to make the game not complain when loading assets

I vaguely recalled something so I looked it up, and in fact he was on bail for a previous offense when he committed a new offense. It seems pretty standard to get punished for violating bail. And it sounds like there was good cause to do *something* even if what they've done is unjust.

Arion Kurtaj, 18, who is autistic, was on bail for hacking the software firm Nvidia and BT/EE and also in police protection at a Travelodge hotel when he continued his hacking and breached Rockstar Games, the company behind GTA, a court heard.

Despite having his laptop confiscated, Kurtaj, carried out his cyber attack using an Amazon Firestick, his hotel television and a mobile phone. He broke into the company’s internal Slack messaging system to declare: “If Rockstar does not contact me on Telegram within 24 hours I will start releasing the source code.”

The court heard that Kurtaj had been violent while in custody, with dozens of reports of injury or property damage. Doctors deemed him unfit to stand trial due to his severe autism and the jury was asked to determine whether or not he committed the alleged acts, not if he did so with criminal intent.

A mental health assessment used as part of the sentencing hearing said he “continued to express the intent to return to cyber-crime as soon as possible”, adding: “He is highly motivated.”

"On their own hardware" on what hardware? Have you seen hardware prices lately? I periodically see people talking about democratizing AI or whatever and running it on local hardware and buddy, normal people don't have hardware with enough VRAM for good models

Posts like this remind me that everyone has different reasons for using social media I don't doubt that on mastodon people are more willing to repost stuff to their followers, and it's true that hitting like on a bsky post realistically doesn't do anything. But is visibility intrinsically good?

people here click like and scroll past (doesnt give you more engagement)
