Commute north with change in Stirling. Looking at platform south shows diversity of rail passengers. Easier to get on than buses. Booking though is still a pain. ScotRail defaults to day returns too easily. No peak fares now at least. £43 open rtn Haymarket to Perth with railcards. @spokes.org.uk

Stirling rail station is one of the nicer places to change trains. Perth in comparison is dark and cold even in summer!

Managed to do a bike shop, printers & post office journey around queues of static traffic. Bicycles are one of the few things going anywhere in the city today! 🔥 Edinburgh's public transport under severe pressure with the loss of Princes St. Just not enough road & pavement space to cope. @edi.bike

🔥 hot news 🔥 AI couldn't help with lack of water in burn beside Community Garden. 😆 😞 🥕 🍅 🥔 🍠 UA helped instead. Way too far for hose from properties in village or very low River Ardle. Previous pump broken but enough water weekend until replacement or rainfall. Tanks normally fill from roof.

A long cargo bike delivery day! To Newcastle in a van and final leg back by train. Very hot in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 🌞 so stopped for cool drink at Cornhill. Borders Rail has a train to Edinburgh every 30 mins much of the day. Melrose is a one mile walk away.

Long distance Flix buses also run by McGill's. Now in competition with Ember, CityLink and ScotRail in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 . A Perth to Edinburgh journey at 17.30 last Thursday shows the casino type 'disintegrated' choices on what should be a quick and easy inter-city 🚌 or 🚆 route. Flix+tram best choice this time.

Couldn't believe the huge amount of cars on the Merchiston Avenue to Dundee St via Yeaman Place route. 5pm last night it was static. I was shopping at Margiottas by bike - can't wait till the pavements round there are widened as per @merchistoncc.bsky.social proposals.

Yeaman Place, Polwarth Crecent and Merchiston Ave forms a favourite 'through' route with drivers.

Car dominated Polwarth - a solitary cyclist can just be seen.

My colleague at Joe's Bike Garage gets all sorts of older bikes in for TLC. This Surly Disc Trucker caught my eye. Forerunner of the gravel bike? All our recliners had BB7 brakes from 2006 onwards but rim brakes ruled on uprights for a while. The Croix de Fer maybe a contemporary to this Surly?

Someone in one of these cars. (!) They had wasted 20 mins going up a dead end street so were starting to get annoyed. Driving in city is a big stress if you miss 'road closed' signage. Some others just drove round barriers on pavements or went head to head through red light on bridge.

Large SUVs are so common in streets now. This one is from KIA and is around £79k. It's a 6 seater. Battery pack is a massive 100Kwh. Meanwhile we offer the UA at £6.5k with 545Wh battery. Only one can get you through city traffic! 😆 @sw20.info @banzaiedinburgh.bsky.social @portyenergy.bsky.social

5 mile 'shortcut' from Kirkmichael - Glenshee maybe toughest 'ride' I'll do this year! Average speed of 3.7mph - heather & peatbogs vs Mondraker mtb. Actually my fastest time yet. Reward = excellent Glenshee Cafe at Lair. Plus much faster run back on tar! Not in the gravel rides book bought there! 😆

The Cateran mini path is invisible here. Look out for posts carefully.

Thick heather let's you park your bike anywhere. 😆 Cateran Trail is straight ahead if you look carefully.

Only one a day from Perth with cheap single offer. No pressure! 😆 Saw a 'low pressure' Ember bus picking up - Aberdeen via Glenshee. Also a Blair Ecotaxi.

Today in England a massive 32% is coming from solar. 🌞☀️🌞☀️ This may be used for air conditioning which is arguably better than data farms. 🤔 Orkney and Shetland missing on most maps. 😢

Cool enough commute over Moulin moor. Timber trucks and windfarms in the hills. Ember e-bus from Inverness to Edinburgh rammed. Hold full so folding bike in the shared space. Booked space but be prepared to improvise when it gets busy! The next stop is Perth Railway station and it's 2 minutes early

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 23°C with southerly breeze on recliner - morning coffee at Glenshee & lunch Glen Isla Hotel. (Decadence 😆) Met two couples on Kalkhoffs and Sonders. (Electric). Very happy with my non electric comfort & speed on recliner. They knew Joe from the Bike Garage. Small world. 🌎

Been running regularly recently but decided to get back on my road bike today as less strain. Not too hot in Strathardle and got a nice breeze too doing a loop round by Cally. Did a second run up onto Moulin moor after with views to west. Lovely. Lots of motorbikers out but only two cyclists! 🌞 🏍 🚲
