Christ. He’s going to send a task force in a desperate bid to cling on, isn’t he?
Hey @traceyjpotts.bsky.social and @ruthholliday.bsky.social - love this picture of you together.
Keir Starmer resigns, as Andy Burnham confirms he will run to replace him as Labour leader and PM.
Me earlier today at First Light Festival in Lowestoft in front of a statue of me circa 1988 in the town’s high street.
In Cornwall for Uncle Barrie's funeral. Right up to the end, even though he was very ill, he would call to make sure his sister, my mother was being looked after. I've walked the streets where he lived his whole life and visited some old haunts. Goodbye Uncle Barrie. We loved you. X
Hey @stuhennigan.bsky.social @simonprice.bsky.social and @johnrobbofficial.bsky.social this was indeed a top nite out.
Just found this note to my grandad dated Oct 1942. “…should this war come to a sudden end you are invited to attend the biggest booze up that has ever been held this side of Warsaw.” Want the whole story now!
Mum and dad with the Hockneys at Salt’s Mill a decade ago. RIP David Hockney and thanks for all the pleasure you brought me over the years. X
“…tough luck to lose a stripe but it is better than losing your character…one loses nothing by standing up to the little big fellows.” A letter from great Bob Stewart to my dad in 1954. Context was dad had been demoted and transferred in the army after punching an officer. Words of wisdom.
Mind blown after starting to watch Fiddler on the Roof for the first time in forty years and seeing Ruth Madoc’s name in the credits.
Found out the background to the greatest pub photo ever. Mum and dad running a Victorian theme pub in the early 70s. Guest starring my three week old brother and some typical sexism of the time. “In the Gilded Cage bar you will find three outstanding birds…”
Hey @thewhale1851.bsky.social - I was clearing out my Mum’s attic and found something I’ve been looking for for decades- the children’s version of Moby Dick that used to give me nightmares. Captain Ahab particularly.
Forget Burnham. Hope and pray that the Prince from across the water hears the call and claims his rightful place at our nation’s hour of need.
