A dialogue with Georg Häusler, Luigia Di Gisi, @brikenaxhomaqi.bsky.social, Leo Kilroy, Marianne Poncelet, and Alexandra Paatsch explored arts-based education’s role in social inclusion and democracy. MEP Marcos Ros Sempere called artistic education a vital investment for democratic life.🎨

--- What comes next? ‼️ Before the next European Council meeting on 18-19 June, we launch our new Statement, urging Member States to not allow competing priorities to cut our future!
We promote the transformative power of Erasmus+, its great impact in Europe from a social and economic perspective, but also highlight the fact that this is the EU’s most known programme and the fourth greatest achievement according to European citizens. 👥
And the Member States now want to cut this further! Education represents around 2% of the EU budget, and even though our future depends on education, decision makers have yet again targeted this sector for further cuts. ⚠️
The @ec.europa.eu started by proposing 40.8 billion EUR for Erasmus+. Compared to our current budget - 26.2 billion EUR - this might appear as an increase... BUT due to inflation, and due to new actions included in Erasmus+, this is not a real increase.
--- What is happening? ✂️ In 2028, the EU will have a new budget for the Erasmus+ programme for seven years. The Member States and the EU institutions are currently negotiating this budget.
Erasmus+ is in danger! The funding for the future programme risks to be reduced, and this means less funding for our common European future! 🚨

On 29 June we will address these questions at the LLLP High Level Policy Debate on AI in Education! The event is invite-based, hosted at the EU Parliament by Vice-President Victor Negrescu. 👥 Our members are ready to express the views of educators & learners to ensure that we make AI work for us!
