DNC concession workers at target field to announce strike.

Who: concession workers employed by Delaware North Company, DNC who serve twins fans, food, and drinks at target field. The nearly 500 person unit is represented by UNITE HERE 17, Minnesota’s hospitality, workers union. What a press conference outside target field where workers will announce the date for a strike.

Where: 1 Twins Way, Minneapolis, MN 55403.

When: Thursday, June 11 at 10:15 AM

WHY: DNC concession workers at target field make minimum wage and do not have access to healthcare through their employer. They are fighting for a new contract with fair wages, affordable, healthcare, and job protections.

On May 1 workers voted by 81% to authorize a strike if necessary.

The bargaining committee for local 17 has been committed to avoiding a strike through good faith bargaining. Unfortunately, the company has not had the same commitment and as forced the committee to authorize a strike. Note: workers will be available for interviews after the press conference.

Unite Here local 17 is Minnesota’s hospitality workers union representing over 6000 workers in hotels airport restaurants, sports stadiums, craft beverage makers, university, cafeterias, and more.

What are the responsibilities of a county attorney? Broadly, duties include:
The county attorney primarily prosecutes felony crimes (crimes which carry a maximum penalty of more than one year in prison) which occur within a county.
The county attorney is the legal advisor for the county board of commissioners, county officials and county departments.
The county attorney is the prosecutor in all cases involving juvenile offenders.
The county attorney plays an important role in seeking new laws to strengthen law enforcement, criminal justice, child protection, victim's rights, and other areas.
The county attorney initiates petitions to protect abused or neglected children in the county — and starts legal proceedings for vulnerable adults in the county when deemed needed.

In a nutshell: MRLF delegation's screening process: The Committee on Political Education (COPE) + Executive Board members conduct political candidate screenings, then bring recommendations to the MRLF delegate body made up of union member delegates who vote to confirm or reject (recommendations / endorsements require support of 2/3 of voting delegates).

For city, county, school board and state elected offices, the MRLF delegation has a sole role in race endorsements. However, the MRLF delegation makes recommendations in house, senate and congressional district races to the state-level federated labor body (MN AFL-CIO). In districts where the MRLF shares geographic jurisdiction with other regional labor federations, we make recommendations to the MN AFL-CIO.

A message from healthcare workers, patients, and our community. Protect Hennepin Healthcare! Fund our public hospital. Protect care for all. Tell your lawmakers: save HCMC! From the Minneapolis Regional Labor Federation, AFL-CIO and AFSCME Council 5.

Why does HCMC matter? Hennepin healthcare (a.k.a. HCMC) provides healthcare services to all of the states 87 counties. The institution trains 1/3 of Minnesota Minnesota’s medical residents. It provides care when no one else will. This is Minnesota’s safety at hospital.

The crisis is real. HCMC provided $104 million in uncompensated care in 2024. There is an estimated $1.7 billion in projected federal cuts ahead. On top of decades of under funding. This crisis is structural, not caused by workers or patients. There’s enough money. It’s about priorities.

What’s that state? 7000 workers and families are at risk. Loss of Minnesota’s only public level one trauma center. We’re all hospitals overwhelmed. Emergency rooms pushed beyond capacity. This impacts every community in Minnesota.
