Happy Caturday, my dears 🥰 Today Pico-cat got lots of outdoor time, but he's no longer content to just explore or enjoy catnip. No, this time he needed to play and remind the world he's a ferocious beastie. Caterpillar unrelated, Pico and I just played with long grass.

I remember reading the 2nd year of transition is spicy. It's true! Progress no longer rapid. Dysphoria in focus but far from resolved. Uncanny valley of appearance means constant misgendering. Now equipped to begin confronting the grief. Much to be happy about! More at home than ever. But woof.

My training flight 7 years ago today! I miss flying dearly. Last flight was March 2020. FAA hates people with ADHD, even if its well managed. I can't get medical clearance to do solo flight and finish my license. Got a bum heart, tho? No problem! Maybe they'll enter the 21st century someday 🤷🏻‍♀️

First post-Swalwell gubernatorial poll has dropped. One primary beneficiary stands out: Becerra. He and Porter remain my top choices. But regardless of how YOU vote, just make sure you and everyone you know votes. Turnout matters more than persuading each other to coalesce around a given candidate.

Fascinating 👀 A working group of Indivisible chapters in California surveyed 11,810 people using STAR voting, to ascertain who they should ask to drop out of the gubernatorial race. The results are below. Personally, I really hope people start coalescing around Xavier Becerra. He can do this.

He cites among their results, "At the People’s March in January 2025, 10% of participants said they heard about the event through an organization. Yesterday, that number was 34%. Word-of-mouth from family and friends, historically the most common channel for protests, dropped from 48% to 38%.

People are no longer being summoned by just outrage. They are being mobilized by infrastructure, which now likely includes their friends and family. This is the difference between a movement that surges and a movement that can win.

47% of DC marchers reported being members of a group, including groups that organized the event. 27% were members of FreeDC, the local organizer. 10% were Indivisible.... What you are watching is the conversion of protest attendance into activism. The people who showed up on Saturday were not taking a day off from normal life to register their feelings. They were the most civically active slice of the electorate, and they are getting more active.
