Jersey guy in VA. Have done a lot of political news Beware: lots of sports posts. Especially baseball & soccer. Opinions are mine. I also have a newsletter!:
I am obligated to note that this stretch began the day after the adoption of a plastic coyote as a good luck charm. 8-1-0 in the era of José.
Missed this game and didn’t realize this until looking at the scoresheet but Anna Moorhouse made 9 saves tonight. In nerd stats: 1.56 xG for KC, 2.59 xGOT for them, and Moorhouse still kept a clean sheet. Best performance from her in a long, long time.
There were some good on-field pictures from tonight but none of them beat this one of @rpn10.bsky.social.
#3 since I need the soccer equivalent of 80-year-old Jack McKeon chomping on a cigar while wearing a Florida Marlins uniform.
Man, it's a hot one! 🌡️🔥 Good morning from Spirit training, where training has been moved up by an hour to avoid the worst of the heat. It's already 88°F a little after 10 am, feeling like 94°. High in Leesburg today will be 98°.
[Jimmy Fallon nervously laughs, adjusts tie] “The United States vs Turkey, or as it’s also commonly known: Thanksgiving.”
The good news is we’re quickly getting better at this! Good one going around about Folarin Balogun choosing to play for the US over England
Definitely right up there! The one that still gets me the most is "YVES! BISSOUMA! uhehehe"
Greetings from Washington Spirit open training, where José the Coyote is watching diligently
Hakeem Jeffries has not posted it here yet, but said yesterday that he has asked Secretary of State Marco Rubio to let the mom of Cabo Verde goalkeeper Vozinha into the U.S. to watch her son play.
"American soccer fans have suffered many indignities over the years: waking up before dawn to watch games overseas, enduring the men’s national team’s failures... listening to Alexi Lalas on TV broadcasts." But is Trump creating the biggest indignity yet? My piece: www.ms.now/opinion/worl...
I always felt that someday the Knicks would call me back home. I have loved the Orlando Magic these last few years, but I think we’re getting there. I keep thinking about how happy little, Knicks-crazed me would be seeing the Knicks do this. Look at this guy. Didn’t even know how to smile yet!
Maddie Mercado seemed about as surprised as anyone that the ball went in when the Reign equalized on a funky high bounce
Trinity Rodman was almost literally dragging Leicy Santos with a hug after Santos scored the first one tonight
I deeply, truly hope that after leaving the area, the person who posted this sign really leaned into the tie-in to The Chicks and said “Goodbye Earl’s”
Trinity Rodman on the Spirit building connections with each other, particularly on the field: “We amplify each other’s brilliance, and it’s just been amazing to watch and be a part of.”
