Well, it took me six weeks, but I just finished Dumas' "The Count of Monte Cristo" and wept my way through the last ten pages. I honestly can't recommend it enough. Very possibly the best book I've ever read. The humanity! My god. Staggering.
There's a Big Lebowski themed bar in Reykjavik that serves 26 varieties of White Russian. It's absolutely wonderful.
15 hours ago I was finishing with (hopefully the first leg of) The Mesmerist in Watford. Now? Reykjavik, baby! With the wonder that is @sallyhodgkiss.bsky.social
Smoking a Montecristo whilst reading The Count of Monte Cristo? GREAT SUNDAY
Just in case you were wondering about coming to see The Mesmerist, it turns out it's actually really good

The Mesmerist Dress rehearsal tonight. Wish me luck. Then come and see it
Read this trilogy in the last fortnight. Absolutely as good as everyone says. Beautiful how it reveals itself over the three books. Proper grown-up Fantasy literature, heartily recommended
I'm out in Central London, heading for Christmas dinner It is absolutely INSANE how busy it is! Traffic worse than on a normal day!
