Solidarity Social launched its website (https://solidarity.social) on Mar 17,2026 with the announcement below on its account @solidarity.social which is hosted in the Solidar Network, a new ATPROTO network services operator.

With a mission of “Building Trust, Organizing Action”, Solidarity Social connects Bluesky users via surveillance proof messaging, censorship resilient social media hosting and provides additional organizing tools for collective action.

The Solidar Network is an independent, privacy-first, sustainable ATPROTO network operator that operates the Solidar App, a modified version of the Bluesky App that supports end-to-end encrypted messaging, and PDSes (Personal Data Servers) for hosting users’ ATPROTO/Bluesky accounts.The Solidar Network issues handles in the
<solidarity.social> and <solidar.social> domains and support custom domains as well.

The user accounts hosted by the Solidar Network, collectively make up Solidarity Social, a social network that is part of the Atmosphere/Bluesky and seamlessly interacts with <bsky.social> and other handles. Solidarity Social creates a space where movements advancing justice, democracy and resisting authoritarianism around the globe can find each other, collaborate safely, and rise together.

Following the presentation of its End to End Encryption technology at the Atmosphere Conference in Vancouver, Solidarity Social launched a social media campaign on April 17, 2026 for participation in the US wide May Day Actions. Since the launch of the social media campaign, @solidarity.social follower count has grown rapidly to over 32K,
with the account trending on Bluesky.

Bluesky DDOS outage and value of independent network operators

Recently Bluesky suffered an extended outage due to a DDOS attack. As detailed in the linked article, the fact that almost all Bluesky users suffered due to Bluesky PBC experiencing a DDOS attack, is because despite Bluesky being architecturally decentralized, there are not yet enough ATPROTO operators running independent instances of all ATPROTO network components.

Solidar Network is an ATPROTO network operator currently running a custom version of the Bluesky social app and PDS (Personal Data Server). The Solidar Network will operate additional network components such as Relays and App Views, as it grows, to provide a fully independent ATPROTO network, thereby contributing to Bluesky’s
promise of decentralized resilience.

Censorship resilience is an important objective of Solidarity Social

In order to provide a space where movements advancing justice, democracy and resisting authoritarianism can collaborate, Solidarity Social bolsters social media censorship resilience for its users by

(a) committing to defend its user’s legal rights, and
(b) ensuring easy migration of user accounts to operators in other jurisdictions.

Via account migration, users can continue operating their accounts without change to their social network, when faced with censorship at an ATPROTO network operator.

Launch promotion running until July 30, 2026

The Solidar Network aims to be self-sustaining solely based on a very low user subscription of ~$8/year/user – no investors, no advertising.
For early adopters there is currently a launch promotion running until July 30, 2026 offering enhanced rewards for bringing influential users with large followings to Solidarity Social. The launch promotion details are outlined on the pricing page.
