So the EHRC just decided to effectively repeal the Gender Recognition Act on a Thursday afternoon, then go on holiday. WTF?

2.49 The Supreme Court in For Women Scotland Ltd v The Scottish Ministers (For
Women Scotland) [2025] UKSC 16 has ruled that a GRC does not change a
person’s legal sex for the purposes of the Equality Act 2010. The judgment
held that ‘sex’, ‘woman’ and ‘man’ mean, respectively, biological sex, biological
woman and biological man for the purposes of the Equality Act. The judgment
uses the expression ‘biological sex’ to describe the sex of a person at birth.
The phrase ‘biological sex’ has the same meaning when used throughout this
Code. This is also referred to as ‘sex at birth’ in this Code.
2.50 This means that, in relation to the Act, a person’s sex remains their biological
sex, whether they have a GRC or not. For example, a trans man with a GRC is a
woman and a trans woman with a GRC is a man, for the purposes of the Act.
2.51 This Code only relates to the application of the Equality Act 2010. It does
not deal with the implications of the For Women Scotland judgment for the
application of section 9 of the Gender Recognition Act 2004 to any other
legislation.
2.52 A trans person will be protected from discrimination because of gender
reassignment, whether they have a GRC or not.

The BBC have responded to my escalated complaint about them platforming Martina Navratilova. It comes down to, "Well, she wasn't on air at the time she sent that tweet, so we're not going to do anything." They won't even acknowledge she's done anything wrong. bsky.app/profile/aida...

Same. They *completely* avoided my actual complaint, which tells me they just made a single copy/paste response for this. I've escalated it due to this. Here's my escalation.

Dear BBC Complaints Team,
Thank you for your response.
However, I do not believe it addresses the substance of my complaint.
My complaint was not about Martina Navratilova’s employment status, nor whether she presents a flagship programme. It was about whether a BBC-associated presenter publicly referring to an identifiable transgender woman, Dr Beth Upton, as a “predator” and “sexual predator” complies with BBC standards on respect, civility, harm, and bringing the BBC into disrepute.
Your reply appears to sidestep that central issue.
Whether someone is staff or freelance is not especially relevant to public perception. Viewers understand Martina Navratilova to be a BBC presenter and associate her conduct with the organisation.
I would therefore like this complaint escalated and specifically ask:
Does the BBC consider such public allegations acceptable conduct from its presenters or contributors?
Were BBC social media/conduct standards considered in this case?
Are these standards applied consistently where transgender people are the target of abusive commentary?
I would appreciate a substantive response to those points.

Well, this is going on, and they're happily contributing to it.

The Equality and Human Rights Commission’s (EHRC’s) former chairwoman, Kishwer Falkner, has joined ‘gender-critical’ House of Lords peers in calling for an abortion scheme to be scrapped in the UK.

The 71-year-old life peer was among several to support an amendment to the Crime and Policing Bill which would scrap the ‘pills by post’ scheme.

Implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic, the postal scheme allows those who are less than 10 weeks pregnant to have abortion medication delivered to their homes. It was praised for improving access to medical abortions by alleviating the fears and social stigma of being spotted in a sexual health clinic.

However, House of Lords Conservative peer, Baroness Philippa Stroud, has requested the service be scrapped completely in amendments that members will vote on this week.

But the moment a trans woman actually wins something? Their social media statement suddenly declares the opposite of their own policy: “Competitors can only compete in the category for the biological sex recorded at birth.”

We wanted to provide an update on what is happening following the Official Strongman Games World Championships 2025 which were held in Arlington, Texas over the weekend. It appears that an athlete who is biologically male and who now identifies as female competed in the Women's Open category. Official Strongman officials were unaware of this fact ahead of the competition and we have been urgently investigating since being informed. An attempt has been made to contact the competitor involved but a response has not been received.

Had we been aware, or had this been declared at any point before or during the competition, this athlete would not have been permitted to compete in the Woman’s Open category. We are clear - competitors can only compete in the category for the biological sex recorded at birth. Official Strongman is inclusive and proud to run events which do not discriminate against athletes based on personal characteristics. Any athlete is welcome. But it is our responsibility to ensure fairness and ensure athletes are assigned to men or women’s categories based on whether they are recorded as male or female at birth.

Given this, we have disqualified the athlete in question from the Official Strongman World Championships 2025. All athlete points and places will be altered accordingly to ensure that the rightful places are allocated to each of the Women’s Open athletes.

The Official Strongman World Championships is an event which is rightly one of the pinnacles of the strength world. We are disappointed on behalf of all those who fairly and legitimately took part that the attention has been taken away from their efforts which deserve celebration, no matter how they performed or where they finished. We stand with them and stand with fairness.”

The policy spells out the hoops we have to jump through: medical documentation, hormone requirements, oversight. Trans women follow the rules. We do everything asked of us just to compete. (and there is no evidence that Jammie broke those rules on the Strongman website)

Strongman Corporation wants to ensure that all athletes, no matter what their
gender circumstances are able to compete in their perspective gender categories
fairly and evenly. The transgender policy of Strongman Corporation mirrors that of
the International Olympic IOC committee medical guidelines with respect to
transgender athlete competition, and must be adhered to for fair competition.
Those who transition from female to male are eligible to compete in the male
category without restriction. Those who transition from male to female are eligible
to compete in the female category under the following conditions:
1. The athlete has declared that her gender identity is female. The declaration
cannot be changed, for sporting purposes, for a minimum of four years.
2. The athlete must demonstrate that her total testosterone level in serum has
been below 10 nmol/L for at least 12 months prior to her first competition
(with the requirement for any longer period to be based on a confidential
case-by-case evaluation, considering whether or not 12 months is a sufficient
length of time to minimize any advantage in women’s competition).
3. The athlete's total testosterone level in serum must remain below 10 nmol/L throughout the entire period of desired eligibility to compete in the female
category.
4. Compliance with these conditions must be monitored by testing. In the eventof non-compliance, the athlete’s eligibility for female competition will besuspended for 12 months.
a. Athletes must provide documentation of all continuous medical
testing over the course of the year showing approved levels.
b. Athletes are responsible for their own medical costs and testing.
Any individual may appeal a decision made by Strongman Corporation about their status.

This security dalek in my local Boots chemist. The member of staff I talked to in there was getting really sick of it after just a few days. It activates every time someone enters or leaves the store. I saw one woman walk in and nope back out the store while I was there.

This appealed to me because of the way it expands the classic illustration of equality and equity (we should always be striving for equity over equality) plus it's really on the nose with that capitalism section.
